Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein's Assistant Lives is an upcoming haunted house that will be featured during Halloween Horror Nights 30. It will be located in Soundstage 23.

History and Location[]

On April 1st, 2021, Universal announced that the Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives haunted house from the previous year would be "plussed" for Halloween Horror Nights 30, meaning it would expand on the lore and story of the previous house. The house would now be centered around Nina (The Bride of Frankenstein's Assistant), a fan-favorite character from the previous house. It would pick up where the previous house left off and expand the story of the Assistant.

The house would be located in Soundstage 23. Soundstage 23 is one of the larger soundstage facilities designed to be used as filming locations for movies and television shows.

Description[]

''"You mustn't disturb the master!"

These were the words of Nina, former Assistant of the Bride of Frankenstein. On the day the Bride attempted to resurrect her mate, Nina was captured and transformed by Count Dracula's vampiric wives. Follow Nina as she battles her way through Dracula's gothic castle in order to reunite with her Master.''

Experience[]

Note: The Wiki team was given an exclusive preview of the house in order to build hype for the upcoming event. The contents of the house in its entirety are listed below. If you do not want spoilers for this upcoming haunted house, do not read on.

Queue and Facade[]

The entrance to the queue for this house was right outside the Universal Music Plaza. The line for this house went through the Universal Music Plaza. Guests would then start walking towards Soundstage 23 and enter the soundstage from the left side.

The extended queue for the standby line looped around the inside of Soundstage 21.

Inside the house, guests would walk down a long hallway of castle walls lined with torches. At the end of the hallway, a queue video would play depicting the events of the previous house. The Assistant could be heard narrating the video. She reveals that on the day the Bride planned to resurrect her mate, a group of Dracula’s Brides escaped their captivity and began rampaging through the Bride’s lair. Nina could be seen fighting off one of the Brides with a stake, before being overwhelmed by a large group of Brides who knocked her down and bit her neck.

After being drained of most of her blood, the Assistant was taken away and locked in a coffin. The coffin was then dragged onto a carriage by one of the Brides, which she took to Transylvania. The final part of the video shows the Assistant waking up within the dungeons of Castle Dracula, realizing she is slowly turning into one of the “foul beasts” and deciding she must stop at nothing to return to her master.

Taking a right turn at the video screen, guests would be greeted with the large facade of the back of Dracula’s Castle. Impaled corpses could be seen scattered around, and a full moon hung high above guests. Instead of walking through the castle’s back door, guests would walk through a trapdoor on an adjacent wall. The howling of wolves could also be heard.

Haunted House[]

In the dungeon, guests would walk past rows of cells. In one of the jails on the right, a large Transylvanian Villager could be seen banging on the iron bars of the cell begging guests to let him out. On the left, a rotting corpse with large bite marks on it could be seen behind another cell. At the end of the dungeon hallway, guests would see the Assistant behind an open cell door battling one of the Brides of Dracula with a stake. Narration would play explaining that the Assistant crafted the stake using one of the broken boards of the coffin she woke up out of. The Assistant would stab the Bride in the heart with the stake, causing blood (water) to spray on guests. She then explains that she can’t quite leave yet, as the part of her that was becoming a vampire wanted to stay within the castle with Count Dracula, her “new Master”. She then resolves to kill him before she becomes completely taken over by her vampirism.

Walking out of the dungeons, guests learned that the Assistant has freed everyone from their captivity, gathering an army to find and kill the Count. Next, guests would enter the armory of the castle, where weapons and suits of armor could be seen. One of the suits of armor would move and nearly hit guests with their sword. Later in the room, the Assistant could be seen in a full suit of armor wielding a stake. All of a sudden Bride of Dracula flies through an open window and screams. A soldier shoots her with a stake (air blast) via a bow, causing her to fly back out of the window.

Walking into the foyer of the castle, guests would be greeted with a large flight of stairs. In front of it, a large army of Brides (mannequins) could be seen. A couple of the ones near the front were real, and would jump out at guests. A soldier runs out of a door and screams at guests for help. All of a sudden, a Bride of Dracula comes out from behind him and shoves her hand through his back, ripping his still beating heart out of his chest.

After that, guests would enter the dining room where a large table could be seen in the center of the room. On it, the Bride of Frankenstein’s Assistant could be seen devouring the intestines of one of her own soldiers. Her narration explains that she did it to cure her growing desire to consume human flesh. Also, loud banging and screaming could be heard from behind one of the doors. Guests would exit the scene up through a broken window and into the rainy courtyard.

In the small rainy courtyard of the castle, guests could see the Assistant next to a moat. She reveals that her transformation is nearly complete, and that she is beginning to see Dracula as her new master. A Bride of Dracula swiped at guests from an overhang above as they were distracted by the Assistant. A Bride of Dracula could be seen emerging from the moat to swipe at the Assistant. However, before she could, Gill-Man appears behind her and drags her back down.

Going around the side of the castle, guests could see a projection of an army of various creatures through the front gate of the castle, all led by the Bride of Frankenstein. These creatures were all “modified” by the Bride through various experiments. One of these was an “Invisible Man”, who could be seen near the front taking off his bandages. They would march towards guests as rain blew down from above.

Entering the front door of the castle now, guests would re-enter the foyer. The narration explains that the Assistant is going to warn the Count of the approaching army. Signs of the previous battle in the foyer could be seen, with blood and guts everywhere. As guests walked further into the room, they would find themselves in the midst of another battle. Frankenstein’s Monster and the Bride could be seen fighting off a Bride together. Another Bride could be seen about to lunge at guests before being yanked backwards by an invisible force as maniacal laughing could be heard. Finally at the end of the room, the Assistant could be seen biting the neck of one of the experiments, a half-human half-ape creature.

Entering Dracula's throne room, guests would be greeted with Count Dracula himself sitting on his throne. He had large bat wings that seemed to stretch across the entire room. As they were distracted by the monstrosity in front of them, the Assistant jumped out from behind his throne, telling guests to leave Master alone. Going into an adjacent room via a secret passageway in the form of a rotating wall, guests could see a projection of Dracula transforming into a bat before flying out a window as the Assistant yells after him. Guests would walk by a door in this room, where they would be startled by Gill-Man’s hand reaching out through a hole torn through it.

The next scene featured The Assistant crying next to a door. All of a sudden, the door bursts open to reveal the Bride of Frankenstein wielding a needle. The Assistant lunges at her before realizing she has a necklace made out of garlic and turns to flee. Before she could, the Bride stabs her in the back with the needle, causing her to collapse. Guests would then enter a pitch black transition hallway with the sounds of vampiric screaming playing periodically before disappearing, symbolizing the Assistant’s recovery from her vampirism.

The final scene of the maze took guests into the Bride of Frankenstein’s Laboratory. It is revealed that the Bride invented an elixir to cure the Assistant. The Assistant could be seen waking up in the lab. Various experiments were scattered throughout the lab, including Gill-Man who seemed to be stationary in a glass case filled with water before banging on the glass and gurgling at guests. Another experiment could be seen on the table: a rotting Egyptian Mummy with tubes connecting to him filled with a strange glowing green liquid. Guests would walk past a cage, where a chained up Wolfman could be seen. As guests leave the lab, they would be attacked simultaneously by the Assistant and the Bride as one final scare.

Trivia[]

  • In the announcement video for this house, it was revealed that the A&D team made a house centered around the Assistant due to a large influx of letters from fans demanding her to get her own house. To quote one of the A&D members: “The Bride of Frankenstein’s Assistant may have been THE most popular character we have ever made for the event. So naturally, we had to give her her own house for 30”.
  • Throughout the house, the design for the Bride of Frankenstein’s Assistant slowly changed. In the dungeon she looked like her normal self. In the armory, foyer, and dining room, she wore a full suit of armor. Finally, in the courtyard through the final scene before the lab she was covered in blood and had large fangs protruding out of her mouth.
  • The reason there was so much narration in this house was because the creative team wanted to fix one of the biggest criticisms of the previous house: that the story was hard to follow. To solve this, they included more narration in order to help guests understand the story better.
  • Nina, the name of the Bride’s Assistant, was based on the name of one of the characters from the 1945 film House of Dracula. The character from that film was also a hunchbacked female assistant to a mad scientist.
  • Due to budgetary constraints, every single prop and costume in this house were reused from previous Horror Nights attractions.
  • The words “PEDRO was here” could be seen spray painted on the side of Dracula’s castle. It is unknown who exactly PEDRO is, but one thing is certain: He must die.
  • One of the members of the Bride of Frankenstein’s Army was a large snake creature with an unhinged jaw. If guests looked closely, they could see a piece of pizza sticking out of its large mouth. This is a reference to the famous Pizza Snake urban legend, in which people say a Pizza Snake roams Universal Studios Orlando looking for ducks and rats to devour.
  • In the opening hallway, if guests shouted “Bear, Bear, Bear!”, HHNBear would pop out from behind a wall and dance.
  • Quack.
  • In regards to this house, John Murdy himself has been quoted as saying “Sure it’s a good house, but it needs more black walls and cruddy masks.”
  • One of the experiments in the final laboratory scene was Charles Entertainment Cheese himself. The design team has confirmed that this implies that the Bride of Frankenstein was the founder of the popular restaurant chain, Chuck E. Cheese.
  • In the same scene, there was also a Chadbot. The Chadbot would repeatedly say the word “vinyl” to guests as they walked by.
  • Dracula’s debts have yet to be paid.
  • If guests looked closely out one of the windows in the Dining Room, they could see a projection depicting H.R. Bloodengutz torching all of the icons with a flamethrower, as he was upset he has not been given icon status yet. This decision was made due to a unanimous decision in the design team that H.R. Bloodengutz is better than all of the icons combined.
    • H.R. Bloodengutz also appeared in this house as a scareactor because the creative team realized that it was a war crime that he hasn’t appeared in a haunted house for almost 10 years. It was revealed that Bloodengutz is actually a Morphan God and enjoys playing pranks on Adaru.
  • When asked what they thought about the term “assimpting” when referring to fans obsessing over the Assistant, a member of the design team famously said “Bear, Bear, Bear!”, which caused HHNBear to pop out and maul all those in the room who disliked the Assistant.
  • This house confirmed that Stranger Things during Halloween Horror Nights 28 was in fact the worst HHN house of all time.
  • The voice actress for the Assistant also voiced other iconic Halloween Horror Nights characters, including the James Westhorne mannequin in Revenge of the Tooth Fairy, Jimothy Steak from Poltergeist, and Jack the Clown’s honky nose.
  • The Peppa Pig Theme Park set to be built in Legoland reportedly used some of the Frankenstein molds from this house for their Peppa Pig costumed characters.
  • This house was originally going to center around Dracula, but due to his severe amount of debts that he owed Universal, his rights to a haunted house were revoked.
  • The moon in the facade for this house was in fact made out of cheese. One night, a brave and noble guest took a bite out of the cheese, then promptly died. Their corpse remains untouched impaled on one of the spikes outside of the facade.
  • One of the bird creatures from Disorientorium could be seen sitting on a cloud in the projection where Dracula flies away cause he’s a lil bitch.
  • Beetledood > Toof > James Westhorne > Brides > Luigi
  • The Assistant gathered quite a large fan community due to her awesomeness. The communities love for the Assistant grew so strong that they devoted an entire religion around her “Assistantology”.
  • The Dustin mannequin is actually hidden in this house behind one of the dungeon cells.
  • The facade for this maze closely resembles the facade for the popular haunted house, Disorientorium.
  • According to a very reliable source, Jack the Clown's rival is Ronald McDonald. I have no idea what this has to do with the house, I just thought you should know that.
  • The Assistant’s goggles were valued to be the most expensive thing ever held at HHN. It’s estimated that they cost more than the budget of every HHN event combined. I also really want them because I would look awesome in those.
  • There was a GAT (Guest Activated Trigger) in the final lab scene. If guests pressed a big red button on the Assistant scareactor’s forehead, the actor would scream and call security on guests.
  • On very rare occasions, Dracula could be seen laying an egg on his throne.
  • There were 69 total left turns in this house.
  • Despite the previous house taking up only half of Soundstage 23, this house took up almost the entire thing. To quote the creative team, “We all agreed that that the Dumb Cannibalistic Meatball Man from Texas deserved only one room, so we gave pretty much the entire soundstage to this house”. The famous Texan they were obviously referring to in this quote was Ted Cruz.
    • This particular house was also revealed. The house consisted of a single room featuring a Ted Cruz mannequin menacingly t-posing at guests while an audio loop played his most famous speeches. One absolutely shocked guest said “that was the scariest shit I’ve ever seen in my life!”
  • The rest of the houses and scarezones for this year were also announced today, but due to how unimportant they are compared to this fantastic maze, we at the Wiki decided not to give them their own pages. The 12 houses featured this year will be:
    • The Smurfs: Apocalypse (Blue Man Group Theater): The village of the Smurfs is attacked by a deranged group of bald men who wreak havoc on their village.
    • Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein’s Assistant Lives (Soundstage 23A)
    • Ted Cruz: The Mad Cannibal Meatball Man From Texas (Soundstage 23B)
    • Revenge of the Tooth Fairy: James Westhorne Gets the Shit Beat Outta Him For Being A Little Bitch (Soundstage 24A): Self explanatory. Confirmed Tom Cruise cameo in this house.
    • HHN Icons: Infinity War (Soundstage 24B): Fear is attempting to gather all 7 of the Icon “totems” for his own dastardly purpose. Can the HHN Icons defeat him before it’s too late?
    • Fast and Furious: Supercharged (Fast and Furious Queue): Enter what is arguably the most terrifyingly horrible ride in existence. Join Muscle Baby Man and other Muscle Baby Man as they explode some cars or some shit.
    • Spoopy sCarey Skeletons (MIB Tent): A group of skeletons invade the small town of Carey, Ohio and kill all the inhabitants. They then take over the town in order to throw rambunctious parties and dance the night away! Care to join them?
    • Pampkeen (Sprung Tent 2): Some guy named Pampkeen is fed up with being a vegetable and fights for the law forcing everyone to consider pumpkins to be considered fruit. Spoiler alert: pumpkins are still vegetables and no one can say otherwise.
    • Puppet Theatre: Captive Audience (Sprung Tent 1): Pumpkins are still vegetables dammit and nothing will change my mind!
    • The Haunting of Waffle House (New Parade Warehouse): There is a Waffle House in Carey Ohio. House open 24 hours a day. Guests who successfully make it through this house will receive free complementary hamburgers.
    • Beetlejuice (Old Parade Warehouse): STILL A VEGETABLE
    • Shrek 4Ever After (Shrek Theater): Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb in the shape of an "L" on her forehead. Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming. Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running. Didn't make sense not to live for fun. Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb. So much to do, so much to see. So what's wrong with taking the back streets? You'll never know if you don't go. You'll never shine if you don't glow. Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play. Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid. And all that glitters is gold. Only shooting stars break the mold.
  • If one were to do this maze over 300 times, they would receive a special prize. That prize would be playing the Assistant for a night.
  • One of the people in the Bride of Frankenstein’s army was a particular Werecat from London.
  • It was revealed that in the previous house, Frankenstein’s Monster was resurrected with the power of Buzz Cola, which comes from the veins of vampires.
  • In the announcement, it was also stated this house would have a sequel in 2022 called “Little Shit James Frankenstein Lives”. It would serve as a crossover between the Revenge of the Tooth Fairy maze and the Universal Monsters universe. The story was revealed that the Bride of Frankenstein and the Assistant kidnapped asshole James Westhorne from his home in England. They then proceeded to do experiments on him, but during a failed teleportation experiment, the Bride of Frankenstein and James Westhorne accidentally genetically fused, creating James Frankenstein (a little boy with tall hair) and the Bride of Westhorne (a mad scientist who happens to be a sailor for some reason). Specifics about the house are yet to be revealed, although it was stated that one scene involved “the little shit being punted out a window like a football because that prick deserves it”.
