Universal's Museum of Horror was one of the three haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights VII: Frightmares. It was located in Soundstage 22.
History and Location[]
Like the previous two years, Universal decided to build a haunted house based on the Universal Classic Monsters. The haunted house might have featured two different entrances which led into two technically different haunted houses. However, unlike the previous year's house, this house would have one side dedicated to present-day horror icons instead of real life horror events.
The house would be located inside Soundstage 22, which is one of the smaller soundstage facilities designed to be used as filming locations for movies and television shows.
Universal would go on to have similar houses to this one until 2001, with the next two being Universal's Museum of Horror: Chamber of Horrors and Universal's Museum of Horror: Unnatural History in 1998.
Description[]
The world's only museum where the guards have to warn the exhibits not to touch the visitors. Here, all your favorite Classic Universal Monsters and present day horror icons come to life... much to your dismay.
The idea was to bring classic and modern monsters together under one roof, museum style. But something went wrong and the exhibits are a little more participatory than expected. Imagine that you are locked in a crypt with hissing vampires or that you see a possessed woman levitating on your bed. Imagine then how quickly your eyes pass over how much horror image a mind can create. At that point, the visit to the Horror Museum ends.
Experience[]
Facade[]
The facade to this house was not very elaborate, only a metal building with glass windows and a sign with the words "MUSEUM OF HORRORS".
Walkthrough[]
It is currently unknown whether the house was actually a dual house or not, but it most likely was given the facts.
Not much is known about the contents of this house, only that one of the rooms was a gigantic lobby with brick pillars, candelabras, a large with dinnerware and cutlery laid out, and a painting. The next room featured dark and tight corridors before guests entered the scenes from the movies. The classic monsters used were reportedly very similar to the previous two years. There was a scene with Frankenstein's Monster sitting in an electric chair behind a cage. Every so often electricity would strobe for about five seconds and all of a sudden he was out of the cage. Another scene featured Mother Bates in a rocking chair and Norman Bates jumping out of a shower (with a silhouette of a man holding a knife on it).
However, the newer monsters seemed to have had scenes from Candyman, The Exorcist, Poltergeist, the X-Files (or some other Sci-Fi movie) and Scream. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street were also allegedly used in this house, though this is unconfirmed.

Trivia[]
- According to this, this house was original supposed to be a three-run house. Concept art layout shows a scene similar to the one in Gothic in 2012.
