Torture Faire was one of the five scare zones that was featured during Halloween Horror Nights 33. It was located in New York (Orlando).
The codename for this scarezone was Gummy.
Description[]
Come one, come all, to SINST3R'S renaissance faire with the devious theme of medieval torture. Brave the gloriously gory homemade torture devices 'til you're put out of your misery.
Backstory[]
The Torture Faire takes place in 2024 Ye Old Torture Faire and takes place in New York where a group of Torture Enthusiasts who have put on a renaissance-like fair for many to come to but meet their fate as these Torture Enthusiasts have recreated medieval torture devices using modern supplies and made them into more horrific and grotesque than ever before and many of the festival goers are being placed in them. At the helm of the faire is Sinist3r, the entity of visceral, psychical horror.

If guests entered Torture Faire by Louie's they would first see medieval inspired barricades and a projection of Sinist3r's symbol on the ground. The first major set piece guests would encounter on the right side of the street, by the Palace Arcade, was the "Ye Olde Torture Goods" merchandise tent. This piece was decorated in various weapons and torture devices, merchandise for the faire including a hat, t-shirt, and a tote bag with Sinist3r on it, and a good littering of human body parts. Typically, an actor playing the shopkeeper would be at the tent to barter with guests. Additionally, an actor in a suit of armor stood by the tent, ready to scare unsuspecting guests. Moving further into the zone guests would see their first large torture device positioned in the center of the street, "The Blood Eagle", in which a mannequin was hung up and his insides were exposed with hooks tearing the flesh. Moving on, on the right side of the street by Sahara Traders was the "Aim and Maim" which was inspired by archery courses at real Ren Fairs, except instead of a traditional target the target was a man hung upside down with a turkey leg used as a gag. The figure of the "target" was an animatronic that squirmed and had correlating audio. Across the street on the left in front of Finnegan's would be "The Brazen Bull", a historical torture device in which the victim would be cooked alive inside a metal bull. The cries of the victim inside could be heard. On this stage was a dancing jester, named Pickles by actors/fans, who held a glowing branding rod with the mark of Sinist3r. Pickles would open and close the door on the bull, exposing the burning body inside to the crowd. In the center of the street parallel to the lockers for the Mummy laid the final stand alone torture device, "The Breaking Wheel", which depicted a man tied of a large wheel. It is clear that the torturers have had their fun with him as his arms and lower legs have been torn off and crows peck at his remains. The final, and largest, set piece would be the stage across from the Tribute Store where the King and Queen of the Faire, as well as their Executioner, would reside. Above the stage was a large sign reading "Ye Olde Torture Faire" and directly below this sign was a banner of Sinist3r. In front of the banner were two intricate wooden thrones, between which was a table draped with red velvet and a vase of wilted looking flowers upon it. On this stage would be two torture devices: The Iron Maiden on stage right and a water torture device on stage left. When The Iron Maiden was opened a punctured body could be seen and pleads to be spared were heard before the spiked doors were once again shut and water sprayed the audience from the mouth of the device. On the opposite side of the stage, a woman was hung from her ankles above a large wooden bucket or water. When activated the Executioner would spin the wheel on the side of the bucket, lowering the body into the water then pulling her back out before she could fully drown. The final event to take place on this stage would be the "Tongue Cutting Ceremony", in which the Executioner would bring a defiant victim onto the stage and the Queen would (as the name implies) cut out their tongue, then show off the severed part to the audience while the victim cries. At the times Sinist3r was in the zone they would initiate and narrate the ceremony, if not it would be lead by the King and Queen.
The scareactors in this zone were sorted into two categories: torturers and victims. The ranks of the tortures included jesters, wizards, witches, plague doctors, knights, executioners, princesses and guards. Victims were dressed in medieval garb and had various torture devices places on them such as heads clamps, cages, handcuffs, and pillories. One actor even had a cage around their stomach to contain their guts as rats feasted on them.
While in the zone guests could hear traditional medieval music played on instruments such as loots or harps that transitioned into more modern rock versions of the same melodies. On top of this cries of anguish could be heard as victims were tortured.
For a portion of the night Sinist3r would appear in the zone to keep a watch on their faire and get in on the torturous action. They would roam around the zone greeting both torturers and guests before making their way to the stage to speak to all the new and returning guests of the faire. The monologue typically included an explanation of the faire, some of the their favorite ways to torture, a demonstration of the devices, and concluded with the aforementioned "Tongue Cutting Ceremony" before Sinist3r would once again return to the street. A major element of Sinist3r's monologue was their instruction for the audience to chose their fate: to be a torturer or a tortured soul as the faire needs both to satisfy them.

Trivia[]
- This zone was originally supposed to be Devil Dogs based on the werewolf bikers from the Slaughter Sinema haunted house from Halloween Horror Nights 28 although at the time Universal did not have the budget or resources to create the zone so this zone seemed to take its place.
- Among all of the Symbol Crests featured in the zone, the Terra Cruentus' crest appears in the scarezone.
- When Scenic Designer Nick Collins and Ramon Paradoa were researching they each came up with a list of torture devices that are historically accurate and were perplexed on how many of these devices could be placed in the zone but they were able to place a fair amount of them due to the space of the New York street.
- The Torture Goods tent is similar to the merchandise tent from Vamp '69: Summer of Blood (Scarezone) from Halloween Horror Nights 32, but the tent is selling different torture devices among other things.
- The scarezone was given Scarezone of the Week during the opening week of the event.
