Experience[]
Facade[]
The Facade was the Sawyer House surrounded by Trees and Foliage. Guests would then enter the Maze.
Haunted Maze[]
Guests entered the Foyer of the House while walking through Animal Pelts hanging down. Inside the area of the Steel Door was the lifeless body of Kirkland as Leatherface would pop out with a Sledgehammer. Guests go down a Short Hallway and enter the next Scene.
Guests then went into the Sitting Room covered in Chicken Feathers as Leatherface would pop out from a Curtain with his Chainsaw. Guests would then go down a hallway with windows.
Guests would then enter the Attic where Grandma Sawyer and Grandpa Sawyer are. Grandpa Sawyer would pop out at guests from his chair with a Hammer as Leatherface would come at guests with his Chainsaw from behind a Curtain.
Guests would then head down a hallway with Skin Pelts hanging down and head into the Sewing Room where Leatherface was sewing together a New Mask and would pop out at guests. Guests would then be attacked by Nubbins Sawyer from behind a door with a Knife.
Guests would then enter the Kitchen and see Pamela Jones inside the Freezer and hanging on the Meathook trying to move. Leatherface would bury his Chainsaw into Kirkland who would reach his hand out to guests.
Guests enter a Empty Room and then enter the Dinner Table Scene where Drayton Sawyer would pop out at guests along with Grandpa Sawyer who also popped out at guests. Leatherface would pop out from behind a Door on the left with his Chainsaw. Guests would then see Nubbins Sawyer with a knife cutting Sally Hardesty tied down.
Guests would go down a Hallway with a Window and then enter another hallway where there were hanging bodies and Leatherface in a Chair rocking back and forth and then popping out at guests. Nubbins Sawyer would pop out at guests with a Knife before they exit the Hallway.
Guests enter the Outside of the Gas Station where Leatherface would pop out from the left and Nubbins Sawyer would be in front of the Facade with his Bag and a Knife. Guests would enter the Gas Station and Drayton Sawyer would pop from behind a Door with a Broom. Guests would continue on to see a Static Figure of Sally with a Bag on her head and Leatherface could be seen cutting off the face of a Male Victim as he then attempts to wear the Face.
Guests would enter the Outside Woods where there was foliage and Franklin Hardesty would pop out from his wheelchair on the left as Leatherface pops out from behind a tree on the right.
Guests would enter the Graveyard and see Fog and see Nubbins Sawyer on the far left digging with a Shovel as Leatherface would then pop out from the right from inside a Crypt. Guests then go down a Black Hallway where Leatherface pops out with his Chainsaw one last time before guests exit the Maze.

Trivia[]
- The codename for this maze was "Quigley".
- This was the third time The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was featured at the event. However, this was the 1st one to be based on Tobe Hooper's 1974 classic. Tobe had visited the event in 2007 for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Back in Business based on the 2003 remake of his original movie[1].
- According to John Murdy, when you’re turning a classic horror film into a maze, you want to get the look & feel right. Normally, he would go through from 10-40 thousand production pics for research but since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a low budget indie film, there wasn’t much aside from the film itself[2].
- The Facade was partly reused from Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses: In 3-D Zombievision.
- Murdy said in translating films into live experiences, it’s essential to get all the little details right; even if they only show up on screen for a few seconds. Murdy didn't know what were the taxidermy animals were in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre but he wrote them as best as he could in the treatment for the maze and the Prop team made them[3].
- According to Murdy, props & dressing play an essential role in translating a film into a maze. For example the kitchen scene told the story of a family living beyond the accepted boundaries of civilized society, in a place where something very bad has occured[4].
- The Chainsaw Plunge and Audio for Kirk's Death is reused from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Back in Business.
- One of John Murdy's favorite Halloween Horror Nights scenes in history was the Dining Room scene from this maze. According to him, Chris William's Art Direction & Tony Lindas' set dressing helped make the scene beautifully twisted[5].
- John Murdy took his wife’s parents through this maze. They were visiting from Ireland & had never been through a maze. When they got to the Dining Room Scene, his father in law pulled up a chair & started chatting with the Sawyer family. His mother-in-law tried to whack Leatherface[6].
- The Face Peel Effect was reused from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Back in Business and Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses: In 3-D Zombievision.
- Murdy and his team's approach to creating mazes is to prey on all your senses, including the sense of smell. A good example of this is the BBQ pit inside the gas station. The smell of cooking flesh permeated the entire scene. The “meat” was treated with UV paint to give it that "just cooked glow"[7].
- In one scene, they reused an audio track from the Hostel: Hunting Season haunted house from Halloween Horror Nights 2011 (Hollywood).
