History & Location[]
On July 28th, John Murdy announced The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2024 (Hollywood) that year.
The house was celebrating the 50th anniversary of the franchise. The idea of the house was pitched to John Murdy to be a multi-verse approach of the franchise and take place in the Slaughter House mentioned by Nubbins Sawyer in the film as the basis of the story of the house. The Slaughter House was talked about in the film but never was seen until now. This house would be an ultimate timeline that's run parallel to the events in the 1974 film that takes place that entirely at the Slaughter House. The house would also feature all of the members of The Sawyer Family and every Leatherface from the franchise including the recent film.
Description[]
You’re Fresh Meat
Leatherface and his cannibalistic kin will lure you into their gore-filled slaughterhouse. Fall victim to a gruesome original story never seen on screen in honor of the 1974 movie’s 50th anniversary.
Backstory[]
On December 25th, 1865, the Union Stockyard Chicago opened its doors for the first time. Before this place existed, many folks would rather slaughter their animals on their farms, everything had been done locally. When the stockyard opened, however, it would have trains take herds upon herds of cattle to be slaughtered and processed, and it quickly became very popular.
A man by the name of Philip Danforth Armour was responsible, as he was the creator of the Assembly Line. In fact, before Henry Ford ever built an automobile, he had gotten the “line for cars” idea from Armour. Armour built the first meat processing plant at the stockyard, and his “Dis-Assembly line” would bring animals in, and then piece by piece by piece they would be dis-assembled. Armour was known for his saying "Everything but the squeal,” meaning that he and the Union Stockyard Chicago would waste no part of an animal, using them to create everything from chewing gum to chess pieces.
But with all success comes rivalry, and a rival of his by the name of Gustavus Franklin Swift built both a slaughterhouse and meat packing plant right next to Armour's. Gustavus is the inventor of the Ice-Cooled Rail Car, and with this vehicle meat could be transported quickly and efficiently all over the country by using the already well-established railroad. Thanks to this, soldiers during World War II could quickly and easily be supplied with crucial necessities and food. This, in turn, would fuel America’s obsession with meat. Meat was considered a delight and a treat, necessary for all meals, and there was much propaganda stating as such.
Then, however, came the downfall. Firstly, the stockyard became home to many of the slaughterhouse’s workers. They lived alongside an absurd amount of industrial waste, and 50,000 gallons of waste water were dumped into the Chicago river every day until the water bubbled and spat out noxious fumes! There was so much sludge in the creek that folks could physically stand on it.
After this ordeal many environmentalists took notice and began scathing the industry. One of these people, Upton Sinclair, would go on to write The Jungle, in which he criticized everything he saw in these places firsthand. This brought a lot of attention to the problems, and what more, following World War II freeways were built. The factories would go from refrigerator rail cars to refrigerated trucks, and soon there was no longer a need for slaughterhouses in big cities such as Chicago. This would lead to the decentralization and decline of the slaughterhouse, and by 1970 the Union Stockyard Chicago was completely demolished.
Many people would go on to build their own slaughterhouses way off the beaten paths, away from big cities, in rural places such as Muerto County Texas.
An abandoned slaughterhouse called the Hooper & Henkel Meat Processing has been sitting for decades ever since the contracts dried up after World War II. It was abandoned, fenced off, rejected by the world, and it was perfect for the Sawyers. They took over the abandoned slaughterhouse and use it to conceal all of their savory, meaty practices from the authorities.

Trivia[]
- This treatment was given a warning due to the imagery Murdy was using to research this house because they were really awful.
- The facade of the abandoned Slaughterhouse called Hooper & Henkel Meat Processing, a nod to Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel, the creators of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.
- John Murdy researched everything he needed to know about Slaughter Houses & Meat Productions and the research would be very horrifying and straining for him and messed him up after hours upon hours, so much so that this would be the first treatment that he would have to put a disclaimer on it as a warning for anyone who would read it.
- Most of the research imagery Murdy could not display in presentation for the house at Midsummer due to the graphic nature of them.
- Leatherface from the Leatherface 2017 the prequel film would be the live actor outside the facade of the haunted house on the back of coveralls written in blood is "Follow" as he ushers you into the house.
- The house would feature all 9 reiterations of Leatherface from the franchise.
- Upon reading many interviews of Gunnar Hansen the original actor who played Leatherface in the 1974 film. He described Leatherface as having no personality of his own and that's why he wears the different skin face masks and wears different masks depending on what he does. Murdy would use this as inspiration for each iterations of Leatherface wearing mask and outfit as doing a certain job in the slaughterhouse.
- Murdy would learn all he could of the dis-assembly line and all the different roles you need in the Slaughter House and would assign each version of Leatherface and members of the Sawyer family.
- The inspiration of the Killing Floor scene was a postcard called The Hurford Wheel that Murdy had found when researching the Union Stockyard Chicago which was also seen then as a tourist attraction like the first theme park where many take tours of the slaughter house. The Hurford Wheel which was a way to get the animals up in the air and onto the dis-assembly line so Murdy and co. decided to make their own make-shift one.
- Another inspiration Murdy had discovered in his research of the worst job a slaughter house work had were Squeegee Men who would clean the floors of excrement, urine and animal parts and would give the jobs to Choptop & Leatherface
- The By Product scene of the haunted house would feature a horrendous smell that is top the smell in The Exorcist Believer (Hollywood) haunted house from the Halloween Horror Nights 2023 (Hollywood).
- A prop called The Nubbins Cart will be featured in the house moved around by Choptop as its a special effect featuring body parts that Choptop is trying rid of.
- The facade of the Slaughterhouse under the name of it, the Sawyers wrote red paint "SAWYERS MEAT" with the Es in both backwards.
