Trivia[]

  • The Creative Team for Universal was angry that John Murdy made the facade for this house so big. [1]
  • The maze used real chainsaws in the outdoor portions. Soon, the Creative team realized that the exhaust from the chainsaws was a big problem.[2]
  • In 2007, John Murdy took Tobe Hooper (the director of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacred) through the maze. [3]
  • According to John Murdy, the maze featured unique effects, including the "Chainsaw Plunge" (in which Leatherface would plunge a chainsaw into a victim's stomach), and the "Face Peel" (in which Leatherface would have peeled off a victim's face). The victim of the "Chainsaw Plunge" wore a bull riding vest backwards to protect him while the victim of the "Face Peel" wore a double facial prosthetic with magnets[4].
  • This maze won House of the Year in 2007.
