1932 Imhotep

The Mummy is the titular antagonist from the Universal Classic Monster series, The Mummy (both the 1932 and 1999 film) and the main icon at Halloween Horror Nights IX. He resides in the mystical land of Egypt and rules it with the powers of sand.

There are two mummies represented in the Universal Classic Monster franchise, Imhotep and Kharis.

Storyline[]

General Backstory[]

The Mummy (1932)[]

Many years ago in ancient Egypt, Prince Imhotep stole the Scroll of Thoth in an attempt to resurrect Princess Anck-es-en-Amon. As punishment, Pharaoh Amenophis decreed Imhotep to be mummified alive and buried with the Scroll, so that no one would steal it again.

The Mummy (1999)[]

A former High Priest of the Pharoah (that he killed), he was found breaking a sacred law in Hamunaptra. He was sentenced to the Hom-Dai, which granted him powers over sand, but the inability to pass on.

Orlando[]

For Halloween Horror Nights, Adaru brought Imhotep back to rule over Fright Nights along with his fellow monsters. Later on, he took over Universal Studios during Halloween Horror Nights IX, bringing his power over the sands to give guests their Last Gasp.

In 2019, a Mummy of a different name - Kharis - returned from the grave as he terrorized intruders who entered his tomb in the Universal Monsters haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 29.

In 2022, Kharis returned and found himself in the midst of a battle between Count Dracula and The Wolfman in the Universal Monsters: Legends Collide haunted house. Both Dracula and The Wolfman heard of an ancient artifact known as the Amulet of Amun-Ra, which grants incredible powers to anyone who possessed it. Dracula wanted the Amulet to walk in the sunlight; The Wolfman wanted the amulet so he could never transform under the full moon again; and Kharis was resurrected by an Egyptian Priest to keep the Amulet guarded at all times. What resulted was a great fight between the three, one that left many battle scars and plenty of blood spilled in the process.

Hollywood[]

A high priest condemned to live undead, Jack the Clown and Freddy Krueger resurrected them and the other monsters to be at the House of Horrors. In subsequent years, they would be brought back numerous times, most notably in the Universal Monsters: Music by Slash and Universal Monsters: Legends Collide haunted houses.
