Sweet Revenge (Scarezone) was one of the five scarezones featured during Halloween Horror Nights 31. It was located in New York (Orlando) and would revolve around an evil candymaker turning all of a town's child populace into crazed killers.

History and Location[]

On August 16th, 2022, Universal announced that a scarezone themed around a bunch of evil trick or treaters turned evil by candy would be featured during their Halloween Horror Nights event that year. The trick or treaters aspect of this zone tied into the events overall theme that year of Traditional Halloween.

The scarezone would be located in the large New York area of the park, which is a recreation of the city of New York.

A story of the same name was also released that year. It was based on the events that took place leading up to this scarezone.

In 2024, two years after this event, Universal would announce a prequel house to the scarezone called Major Sweets’ Candy Factory that would be featured at that year's event set during a field trip to the titular factory and revealing what was added to the candy to transform the children into murderers.

The sweets from Major Sweets' candy company have turned children into crazed killers. This Halloween's all trick, no treat and total mayhem.

The sweets from Major Sweets’ candy company have turned these 1950s kids into crazed killers. With pint-sized costumed maniacs roaming the streets, Halloween will be a night of trick or treat mayhem.

This scarezone takes place in 1954 in town named Hollow Hills during an Annual Halloween Party Parade. The party is sponsored by a Candy Company owned by Major Sweets. The candy turns the kids into horrific killers. They would drool chocolate as they attack the adults. The parade has crashed all over the streets and guests would have to wind their way through them. The zone featured many show moments.

Scarezone[]

Scattered throughout the streets of New York were three parade floats: one themed to a graveyard, one themed to a witch, and the last being themed to candy. A judge's booth was also built in the corner, next to a candy stand filled with candy and wrapped heads on lollipop sticks. To the left of that was a tent with a tractor crashed in it. A bloodied corpse wrapped in orange Halloween lights was crashed into it. Major Sweets's van could also be seen, the trunk open and full of weapons.

Further on into the zone, a dead couple could be seen in front of a picture of a cornfield. Colorful flashing lights were strung up above, and various Halloween props were scattered about such as pumpkin decorations and haybales. Projections of the silhouettes of various townsfolk could also be seen in the windows, most being stabbed by maniacal kids. Other projections showed kids eating the candy and turning evil.

Various scareactors would roam around the sweets, including the trick or treaters who ate the candy and became evil, the townsfolk who run around warning guests not to eat the candy, and Major Sweets and Miss Treats, who would facilitate the madness. Every once in a while, a victim scareactor would go up to the judge's booth and warn guests not to eat the candy. A trick or treater would come up behind him to stab him as he screamed.

Another mini show was featured on the Graveyard float. The Hollow Hills Mayor and his daughter would present the key to the city to Major Sweets as the actor on the judge's booth commentated. Major Sweets would hand the daughter a knife from the back of his truck, which she would use to stab the mayor in the back as the judge watched in horror. Major Sweets would laugh maniacally and give the girl a high five before stealing away with the key.

  • Lil' Boo has an appearance in the zone as apart of Major Sweet's hat as he does on the promotional art.
  • The license plate of the Major Sweets’ Van says Sweetz
  • The story of the zone was teased by many news clippings that were featured in the Universal Retro Tribute Store.
  • The Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store (2022) ending room tied into the town where this zone took place and released guests into the scarezone itself.
  • Major Sweets would also sell some of his candy in the store.
  • There was also a food and beverage booth in New York tying into the scarezone, having a similar celebration theme.
  • The floats were from the same company that does the Mardi Gras floats.
  • Major Sweets’ Van was previously used as the Zombie bomb bus in The Walking Dead: The Undead Streets, the ice cream van from Killer Klowns From Outer Space (Scarezone) and the Twinkies van in Zombieland Double Tap
  • The Charlie character prop from Trick 'r Treat (Scarezone Orlando) and Trick 'r Treat (Haunted House Orlando) can be seen in the zone being strolled around by one of the trick or treaters.
  • The witchcraft-themed parade float features a recipe for the Poison Apple. The recipe reads "One taste of the Poisoned Apple and the victim's eyes will close forever. Sleeping Death". This is an allusion to the Disney version of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" but also possibly an homage to the Scary Tales franchise.
  • The phrase “Sleeping Death” on the recipe book is an allusion to Brother Sleep and Brother Death from the Graveyard: Deadly Unrest scarezone.
  • Some of the projections of people being murdered taken from the PsychoScareapy: Unleashed scarezone were projected on the windows of the buildings in the surrounding area. as well as original projections of trick or treaters eating candy, transforming into killers, and killing their parents.
  • The Tricycle Tot's license number was HHN 31.
  • The floats in the scarezone were designed by a company called Fern Studios, they had designed many of the floats from the Mardi Gras Parades in New Orleans and would also do a lot of the floats for the Mardi Gras events for Universal.
