Swamp of the Undead was one of the five scare zones that was featured during Halloween Horror Nights 33. It is located in Central Park.

The codename for this scarezone is Marshmallows because it takes place in marsh area of Louisiana.

Description[]

In backwaters Louisiana, you’re about to be swamped by zombies borne from the bodies of trespassers killed and dumped in a nearby bog.

Backstory[]

Some people who lived in the shack of the swamp would be given help bootlegging stuff into the swamp and once these people helped them they would be killed dumped into the surrounding swamp areas to get rid of the evidence. Many of the victims would come back from the dead and enact their revenge as well as any trespassers that'd make their way on the swamp.

Guests enter the zone passing by many zombified victims of the swamp with the sounds of groanings and sounds of the swamp passing by debris and wreckages, they continue as on their left a fan boat slowly dying as a zombie is caught in its propeller, on the right of guests behind a gate a rotting tall shack can be seen with light illuminating from it, guests continue pass docks on either side, one of them with a zombie groaning as its being chewed on by two alligators, as they continue towards the end on their right a steel piped revealing a zombie with its brain exposed poses as a distraction for another zombie to pop out from behind it and lunge at guests as they exit out of the zone.

Trivia[]

  • There was rumors circulating that this scarezone and Torture Faire were both late adjustments to the event and was originally going to be an Latin scarezone while the other was to be a Toys scarezone but were to would to require a lot meticulous scene but Universal decided to focus their budget to the Universal Mega Movie Parade.
  • According to Unmasking The Horror Tour Guide, this scarezone takes place 1933, a reference to 33 being this is the 33rd year of the event.
  • The zombies vary in design because of the length of time they have been in the swamp. Certain zombies have makeup to show they are freshly deceased and other zombies are in masks to show they have been dead for a long time.
  • The scarezone would get Scarezone of the Week during the second week of the event.
  • One of the zombie masks was reused from the Hellblock Horror haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 31.
