Sam Meetz is a character featured in the Leave it to Cleaver haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights: Ripped from the Silver Screen. Sam is an overly friendly butcher who owns and operates Meetz Meats, a meat factory which slaughters hobos, lawbreakers and unauthorized visitors, and then butchers them into delicious meat which is sold at the factory's diner. Also, the factory is believed to be the main food provider for the Universal Palace Theater, and the main source contributing to the findings of human fingers as well as other human body parts in the Palace's concession stands food.
Backstory[]
He explains in the queue video that his grandfather, founder of Meetz Meats, came to America from Romania during WWI. Initially starting out the company by selling meat from a pig and bovine livestock, Sam's father, who inherited the business, began losing money during the Great Depression. So, he decided Meetz Meats' livestock would secretly be changed. Instead of butchering pigs, the company would instead secretly butcher hobos, town lawbreakers, and unauthorized visitors to the factory into delicious meat. Not only did this keep the storehouses full, it helped keep the streets "clean of vagrants, riffraff, and ner-do-els." After the first couple humans were butchered, the new products became an instant success, and Sam's father decided to keep the human livestock going. Sam now continues his father's trend, and has become a millionaire, with Meetz Meats as the most popular meat factory in Wyandott County, Ohio.
His picture also appeared in the pizza place in Resident Evil: Escape From Raccoon City.
In 2020, Sam Meetz would appear in the the story Bad Following Good based on the Leave it to Cleaver, when a down on their luck vagrant comes to the town of Carey and placed in Jail only to befriend the officer that placed him in for his own good, resting him, "fattening up" and readying him to leave the jail and be under the care of Samuel Meetz and work for him at his factory only to realize that the vagrant would fall victim like many of the people who end up in the care of Sam Meetz.
Sam Meetz would return alongside his mascot Meaty Meetz in the Welcome to SCarey: Horror in the Heartland haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 31 in a recreated diner scene from the original Leave it to Cleaver haunted house from Halloween Horror Nights: Ripped from the Silver Screen.
Sam Meetz and Meaty Meetz would be referenced again in 2022 when a food booth located in Sting Alley was themed to Leave it to Cleaver as an easter egg to where the Meat Factory/restaurant was located in the queue videos of the house back during Halloween Horror Nights: Ripped from the Silver Screen. The food booth would be called The Meetz Locker and would feature a meat stand in the front. As guests continued walking in, they'd see a big factory sign reading The Meetz Locker. Walking in they'd see a food stand with body parts and meat hanging where guests could purchase their choice of food.
Personality[]
Sam is a cheerful fellow, friendly and polite to everybody he meets. He acts like a living embodiment of the optimism and energetic vigor associated with the 1950's, despite the sinister goings-on in his business. His cherub-like demeanor is truly unflappable, demonstrated during a portion of his filmstrip, in which the camera pans with him and catches one of his employees carving up a human cadaver. Noticing this with a side glance, he quickly and calmly closes the door, still smiling, with only the briefest of nervous chuckles to indicate that anything is wrong before he continues his spiel as if nothing happened or that anything is amiss.
