Run: Hostile Territory was one of the haunted houses that was featured during Halloween Horror Nights: Sweet 16. The house featured Eddie, the unused icon of the 2001 event. It was located in the Earthquake Queue.

History and Location

For their 2006 event, Universal would decide to have all of their haunted houses (and scarezones) be sequels or prequels to landmark houses and scarezones in the past. One of these would be Run: Hostile Territory, a sequel to the haunted house Run in 2001. The 2001 house was supposed to be the icon house for Eddie, but Eddie was scrapped as the icon and was replaced by Jack.

However, Eddie would appear in this house with a vengeance. The story of the house would change a bit. Instead of Eddie and his goons chasing people around in an evil gameshow, he and his goons would run a business where people can murder and torture people if they pay a price. The house was loosely based on the 2005 film, Hostel.

The house would be located in the large extended queue for the Earthquake attraction. The house would receive a semi-sequel house in 2015 with RUN: Blood, Sweat, and Fears.

Description

When the lights go out, the voyeurs suddenly become the victims.

An underworld exists where anyone can fulfill their most ghastly fantasies. Where the innocent can be tortured, dismembered and killed, all in exchange for a credit card number. Choose your path and bear witness because when the lights go out, the voyeurs become the victims and there is no amount of money in the world that can save you.

Website

On the Halloween Horror Nights: Sweet 16 website, guests could enter the backstory page for the house by clicking on a bloody chain on its description page. There, guests could click on and view a rental order form for various tools of torture, a sheriff's auction form for Eddie's belongings, and a phone with various pictures of the house. Guests could also click on car battery clips to hear a short audio clip. The page also had a brochure for the original Run attraction, a key ring, a bottle of chainsaw oil, a blue folder, and a credit card.

Queue and Facade

Guests would enter the queue of this house to the left of the entrance for Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue. The queue would go to a backstage area behind the Earthquake building, where the line would loop around multiple times before entering the Earthquake building from the back. A queue video would play on one of the walls of the building depicting scenes of torture and mutilation. At the end of the queue, guests would approach the facade of the house, which was a dilapidated brick building with metal barrels and an exploded tank outside. Also outside the building was a dumpster filled with severed body parts. Guests would enter the house through one of the doors of the building.

Haunted House

Eddie ran a torture house business, and the house was a trip through the many sights and sounds of his demented business. In the first scene, guests saw Eddie placing needles in a victim's veins. The next scene included a victim in the Venus Fly Trap from Saw II. The following scene had a worker cleaning the electric chair from Hellgate Prison behind a glass barrier. When guests passed by him, he would wet the visitors. Then, guests went through a chainlink maze filled with chainsaw maniacs, as if guests themselves were the victims. The final scene included guests RUNning down a narrow, but long hallway, while being chased by Eddie himself. The house also reportedly had no air conditioning.

Trivia

  • The queue video showed clips from Hostel, SAW, and Videodrome.
  • As stated in the walkthrough, one of the victims was wearing the Venus Flytrap from SAW II.
  • On the website, guests could see an image on possibly Eddie's business called "Odfellow's Ultimate Ventures". Dr. Oddfellow was Jack the Clown's former boss who betrayed him. Eddie could have possibly named his company after Oddfellow to spite Jack.
  • In the facade, a blown up radioactive contained could be seen that was previously used in the Toxic City scarezone in 2003.
