The Opening Scaremonies are a show before the opening of each event. They usually appear outside of the park and signal the beginning of the event. Opening Scaremonies are tied into the theme of each years event, but don't always happen every year. The Opening Scaremonies range from elaborate stage shows like The Arrival to shorter, more lowkey event intros.

Halloween Horror Nights (Hollywood) also has opening scaremonies. In the absence of a yearly theme, the opening scaremonies focus on scareactors from the scarezone nearest to the entrance gates gathering to chase people into the park with pre-recorded intro audio. Unlike Orlando, Hollywood also has a closing scaremony called the Chainsaw Chaseout, where large amounts of scareactors with chainsaws drive remaining guests out of the park for the night.

Universal Studios Singapore usually hand out very elaborate and bombastic openings.

Halloween Horror Nights XI[]

Originally, the opening scaremonies were to feature Eddie, then called Edgar, and the Chainsaw Drill Team interrupting Jack's version of the scaremonies. After failed attempts to kill Jack by strangulation and decapitation, Edgar would put a stop to Jack by putting his decapitated head back into the jack-in-the-box then chainsawing it. He then would declare the event "open for business" as the Chainsaw Drill Team ran guests into the park.

Halloween Horror Nights: Islands of Fear[]

The Caretaker on his horse drawn hearse strolled along a red carpet towards the entrance to Islands of Adventure. The Caretaker then jumped off of the horse, and walked onto the stage with various scareactors of the event, such as Chainsaw Alice, Carnage, the Treaks and Foons and Nightmare. He spots an "unbeliever", who is brought upon a stage by his followers at his command. The unbeliever lays down in an open coffin, shouting at his nearby friend to take a picture of him. The Caretaker and his followers begin to torture the man by placing snakes inside the coffin. After exclaiming knowing what evil lurks in the hearts of men, The Caretaker uses his shears to tear out the man's heart. Holding it in his hand, he tells his followers to prepare entering the gates before he tosses it in a fire. Finally, The Caretaker tells the guests to enter the Islands of Fear as another victim is carried off into the park by another scareactor.

Halloween Horror Nights 13[]

Not much is known from this particular opening ceremony. From what little is seen of the official montage of that year, The Director filmed the "13th scene" for his latest film, which involved a victim being drenched in blood. After this occurred, he announced the event's opening.

Halloween Horror Nights XIV[]

Tom Michaels (Kenny Bauble in reality) walked on the stage at Point of Evil to welcome guests to the grand opening of Halloween Horror Nights 14. He describes the Point of Evil as the place where the fear from the past has been collected. He then goes on to explain that its evil power has since increased over the years, and will spread to both parks. Throughout his speech, Tom becomes more affected by the fear, as he sporadically changes his moods, talks to himself, looks over his shoulders, and claims invisible creatures are possessing him. Various scareactors gather at the stage as Tom - now with a more sinister demeanor - throws the first switch to spread the evil of Halloween Horror Nights. Some sparks burst, but it's proven to not be enough. Tom then invites the guests to chant "Twice the Fear" as he throws the final two switches, causing the Point of Evil to burst into more electricity. He tells the guests to go forth into the event before he collapses and faints on the stage. The scareactors carry his body off and disappear into the darkness.

Halloween Horror Nights 15: Tales of Terror[]

This marked the first official sacrifice to the Terra Queen on the Terra Throne. To her demands with a mighty roar, Eelmouth ordered the Dark Temptresses and Altar Boys to find someone who was Pure of Heart to be sacrificed. Once found, the victim was dragged towards the Gorewood Tree and was hung by her arms. As she kicked and screamed, the Terra Blade was driven through her heart and her blood flowed into the roots of the Throne. With her body being lowered into the pit, the Season of the Queen officially began and the 15th year of Halloween Horror Nights was open.

Halloween Horror Nights: Sweet 16[]

Sweet 16's opening scaremonies actually took place in the park, featuring the main event icons Jack the Clown, The Caretaker, The Storyteller, and The Director. More detailed information about the scaremonies can be found at The Arrival. All other areas of the park were closed until the show was over.

Halloween Horror Nights 17: Carnival of Carnage[]

The Opening Scareamony begins when a Carnie Barker announces the various haunted houses and scarezones of the Midway in a mini stage that covered Jack's show. Ringmaster Jack appeared out of a box to greet visitors into The Carnival of Carnage. His reluctant assistant, Jill, unfolded giant tarot cards of the Carnage Killers.

Then, after a fire effect broke out, the stage darkened into a reddish hue. Leatherface and Jason Voorhees tore out of the cards with their weapons and tried to attack the assistant. Then freddys lullaby played and Freddy Krueger bursts out of his card. Grabbing the assistant he exits , laughing. Jack then announced that the Carnival was open.

Halloween Horror Nights: Reflections of Fear[]

This was the first opening scareamony to be media only. In a room that seemed to be in an old abandoned Victorian house, the mirror witch Bloody Mary would tear out of her bounds and pull visitors into her hellish reality. It featured the character John Michaels, a ghost tracker.

Halloween Horror Nights 23[]

A survivor character on the balcony, fitting with the year's The Walking Dead theme, warned park guests that a horde of "biters" (Walkers) were closing in on the group as they rush the gate. The survivor contacted their partner inside the park, who made noise to divert the Walkers from the gate. One walker made it up to the balcony and attacked the survivor, but the survivor succeeded in beating it with a baseball bat. After that, the gates of the event were opened.

Halloween Horror Nights 24[]

A recording announcing the beginning of the annual Purge played as Purge participants loomed outside the gates and on top of the balcony. A lull in the recording allowed the yuppie characters on the balcony to introduce themselves. What the lead yuppie said would vary, but usually involved some mention of the park guests being targets. After that, the purgers outside the gates put on their masks and the gates to the event were opened.

Halloween Horror Nights 25[]

Various scareactor characters from Horror Night past and present congregated at the gates. A recording of Jack announced the beginning of the event, with fireworks going off after his introduction. Afterwards, the gates opened.

Halloween Horror Nights 30[]

Jack the Clown would bring alongside his brother Eddie Schmidt and various scareactors from some of the scarezones to congregate at the gates where Jack would announce on his megaphone the beginning of the event, fireworks would go off at the end of the introduction followed by the gates opening.

Halloween Horror Nights 31[]

The Pumpkin Lord would be heard beckoning fans to summon the horror that they had called upon to bring him as various scareactors from some of the scarezones begin to walk towards and congregate at the gate as The Pumpkin Lord welcomes everyone to the event followed by the gates opening.

Halloween Horror Nights 32[]

Whistling can be heard echoing in the air before Dr. Oddfellow would walk on top of the Halloween Horror Nights sign, introducing himself to the guests. As he promises power and immortality through fear and horror, the fog begins to roll throughout the park. He finally invites the guests to enter as the Horror Night begins and the gates open.
