Mutations: Toxic Twenties was one of the four scarezones featured during Halloween Horror Nights 34. It was located in New York.
History & Location[]
On July 17th, 2025: Mutations: Toxic Twenties was announced as one of the four scarezones coming to the event. The scarezone would feature a toxic waste spill in the streets of 1920s New York, causing the inhabitants to turn into mutants.
The scarezone would be located in the large New York area of the park, which is a recreation of the city of New York.
Description[]
In a 1920s neighborhood, a BuzzCon truck with radioactive cargo crashes into a mobster getaway car sending the city into toxic pandemonium.
Backstory[]
Main Article: Mutations: Toxic Twenties (Story)
On October 13th, 1928, local mobster “Money Bags” Moretti attempted a daring heist of New York’s Barmy Bank in the midst of a party being held at one of the nearby speak-easies. Despite a “strong” exit from the scene, including the car smashing through one of Bzzzcon’s new billboards, Moretti was unable to shake the ensuing police. Eventually, Moretti (or possibly his getaway driver) took a wrong turn and rammed into the rear of a Bzzzcon truck (driven by Tony) that was caught up in the chase. The pesticide company had recently faced criticism and accusations following the release of a new rat poison formula, with some claiming the toxin led to mutations of the pests more often than fatalities. Unfortunately for “Money Bags” Moretti, gallons of the recalled chemicals found themselves in his path that night.
The collision sent barrels and their contents flying down the street, coating anything and anyone in vicinity with their corrosive and mutagenic stain. Subsequently, these chemicals would find their way into the drainage and spread throughout the streets – mutating flappers throughout a speakeasy who would run rampant in the streets in the midst of a toxic transformation.
Experience[]
Green projections covered all parts of the scarezone, simulating toxic waste that has been thrown everywhere. Guests enter the zone from the Louie's Italian Restaurant side through a hole made in a billboard advertising Bzzzcon's new rat poison product. The hole was made by a getaway car that crashed through in its escape.
Guests would pass by a stage on the right dripping with glowing green slime. A banner hung above barrels of alcohol that said, "Say No to Hooch!". A corpse could also be seen lying in the barrels, its face growing another face where it made contact with the toxic waste. A male Police Officer would stand on the stage and eventually walk behind the barrels. His silhouette could be seen in the back breaking open barrels to see what's inside. When he hit one, he was sprayed in the face with a glowing green substance, mutating him. A Mutant Police Officer would then burst through an opening in the back.
There was a small newsstand built in the middle of the street, with sheets of newspaper covering the windows. A mutant zombie would hide in there and jump out at guests if they approached. Next, guests would walk past a speakeasy with a barrel of toxic waste in front of it. Occasionally, a gangster would show up banging on the door demanding to be let in. A flapper would open the door, panicked due to her being covered in toxic waste. Eventually, the waste would alter her mind and cause her to slash at the gangster's face, infecting it.
Guests would walk past a police car surrounded by fences and could see projections of large amounts of slime oozing from the buildings. The Florist Shop was likewise covered in toxic waste. Tendrils of vines could be seen enveloping the shopkeeper behind the counter. The mutated Florist would run out from the side and give guests a scare.
At the other end of the scarezones guests would find the scene of the accident that started this mess. A mobster getaway car was rammed in the back of a Bzzzcon truck, causing the barrels on the back of the latter to spill everywhere and toxic waste to fill the getaway car and streets. Money bags from the Barmy Bank could also be seen scattered everywhere. Tony could be seen in the back protesting his innocence and condemning the actions of the criminals, before “Money Bags” Moretti would climb up and attack him. Tony would also warn everyone about what happened and tell them all to remain calm. Later on in the event, an animatronic of one of the mutated mobsters could be found on the back of the truck. It would slowly raise its hand, causing Tony to panic and hit it.

Trivia[]
- As this is a prequel, this would make the chronological first of four appearances where Bzzzcon would be responsible for the horrific events portrayed. They would be later involved in incidents at their Bzzzcon Pavillion in the 1950s that would mutate and grow many of their insect test subjects that they were trying to exterminate with their new Extermin-Air product, only for it to be faulty and reverse its use on the insects and also infecting, infesting and killing their staff and visiting tourists. They would later be featured in future events, as they were responsible for the incidents taking place in the fictional b-movies Blood And Chum, where the toxic waste grew the shark as it made its way to a nearby camp, and Night of the Undead Clowns, where the same toxic waste would awaken many of the undead clowns buried underground.
- Ramon Paradoa was the Show Director for this scarezone.
- The bank bags seen by one of the crashed vehicles reads Barmy Bank, a reference to The Barmy Triplets from the Triplets of Terror haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 33.

- In the show moment at the speakeasy, a voice says "What's the password", a possible nod to the Spirits of the Coven haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 31.
- Some of the scareactors had reused Taffy masks from the Major Sweets Candy Factory haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 33.
