Muerte is a caretaker and gravedigger of The Cemetery of The Lost and he is the humbled narrator who takes us through the journey through the history of the Latin monsters as he a unique take on the Grim Reaper. He was a scareactor in Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America haunted house and the El Terror de las Momias scarezone during Halloween Horror Nights 2023 (Hollywood). The next year, he would appear alongside Tlahuelpuchi, La Lechuza & El Silbón in the Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America (Orlando) haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 33. As well as the same year, he would appear a long with El Charro Negro, El Cadejo, and El Cucuy in Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 2024 (Hollywood).
Inspiration[]
According to John Murdy when creating looks for Muerte, they wanted to come up a traditional looks for the grim reaper, Murdy would find references and one of them would be Max Von Sydow in a 1950s foreign film called The Seventh Seal in which he plays the role of Death. They also pulled images from Aztec culture and images from the middle ages and renaissance and all other different iterations of Death and mesh all of the ideas together to create this character.
The character does not have an actual name but the Murdy and team decided to make a character with no name, after awhile of still trying to come up with a name, they opted for him only to just be called Muerte which is Spanish for Death.
