Monster Mardi Gras Costume Contest was one of the twenty shows that were featured during Fright Nights. The show was located in Hollywood, right in front of the Mel's Drive-In Stage.
The kids who participated in the contest were held backstage from around 5:00 to 7:30 P.M, when the show started.

Local schools around the area had a costume contest and the winners of those were then going to come to Universal Studios Florida where they would also be placed in the Monster Mardi Gras Costume Contest. Parking was for $4 and met at the gate and was brought to the staging area, those who participated were given snacks and were given $20 in fright cash to spend around Universal that night and were also allowed to bring a guest. They were given a parade around Hollywood and also had banners with names like Frankenstein and Dracula, Freddy Krueger after the parade they were allowed to enjoy the event afterwards.
