Horror Nights: The Hallow'd Past (2010)

Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters & Mayhem was one of the nine haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights 25. It was a house created to celebrate 25 years of Halloween Horror Nights Orlando and was mostly made up of scenes from previous houses. It was located in Soundstage 21.

History and Location[]

On August 27th, 2015, Universal announced that a haunted house that served as both an icon house for Jack the Clown and a celebration of the past years of Halloween Horror Nights would be coming to that years event. The house would feature tribute scenes to a few haunted houses from the past. The codename for this house was either "Dynasty" or "History", as the house celebrated the dynasty and history of Horror Nights.

The house would be located in Soundstage 21, one of the larger soundstage facilities designed to be used as filming locations for movies and television shows. The house would prove to be very popular, and would go on to win the House of the Year award in 2015.

Description[]

Relive the most terrifying moments of the past 25 years as Jack releases our catalog of creatures in one maze. You'll be attacked by Universal classic monsters, meat-grinding maniacs and the fiends of Horror Nights past.

Experience[]

Entering the soundstage, guest emerge outside of the Carnival of Carnage, showcasing massive spinning pillars adorned with posters of the Icons, with mangled bodies of previous victims hidden behind them, and a massive glowing facade of Jack’s face looming over the entrance. The ringmaster could also be heard overhead, announcing the various creatures included in his newest attraction. Entering through the mouth, guests enter the jack o' lantern scene from The Hallow, the room filled with trees, candles, jack o' lanterns and vines, with the heavy smell of decaying Earth. Jack-O-Lantern, a long-running Pumpkin Head monster, attacks from the side as guests maneuver through the forest.

The bear

Papa Bear in the Scary Tales scene of Jack Presents: 25 Years Of Monsters & Mayhem

Transitioning into the pages of Scary Tales: Once Upon a Nightmare, a fairy tale cottage sits with a small woodshed outside. The decapitated body of Big Bad Wolf lays sprawled on the ground, and a ferocious Little Red Riding Hood, wearing The Big Bad Wolf's skin, attacks from behind the woodshed with the wolf’s severed head. Entering the cottage from Goldilocks And The Three Bears, guests pass a table with half eaten bowls of porridge, while Mama Bear devours the remains of Goldilocks and roars. Papa Bear attacks from behind a curtain during the distraction, hungry for new fresh meat. Continuing into the sunken ship of The Forsaken, the floor tilts as waves spray through the broken hull, while the titular cursed sailors attack from either side as the ship creaks. Immediately exiting the room, Jack, in his original Polka-dot outfit, leaps out and cackles.

Entering into the decrepid funeral parlor of Screamhouse, on the right the twisted plant monster from Dead End swipes and lunges from atop a pedistal, while on the left, The Caretaker seemingly pops out of thin air, eager for new subjects to experiment on. At the end of the room hangs a lit portrait of The Storyteller. Following is the Caine family crypt, where a molded brass mausoleum for Cindy sits. Suddenly, the pyromaniacal revenant bursts from her tomb, screaming as guests escape to the next scene; a hallway through Lydia’s Bed and Breakfast from Legendary Truth: The Wyandot Estate. Above the hallways soars a floating ghost, with windows lining the left wall, the faces of the house’s tortured souls flashing outside as wind blows open the curtains. At the end of the hall, a cloaked poltergeist emerges from the last window to attack, while a portrait of Jack in his Ringmaster outft hangs from the wall. In the attic, Jack, in the same outfit, charges through the wallpaper to surprise guests as they walk past.

The next scene pays homage to the Universal Classic Monsters. Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein stalk Dr. Frankenstein’s lab, The Wolfman pounces from the forest with a full moon, The Mummy rises from his tomb, and The Phantom of the Opera lunges from behind theater curtains, all while the Hunchback of Notre Dame rings the cathedral bells. In one of the bedrooms of Castle Vampyr, two vampire girls sit on a bed enticing would-be victims, while more vampires lurk from behind curtains to attack, and another Polka Dot Jack emerges from behind a suit of armor. From high above the cathedral from Gothic, multiple gargoyles and a moving statue hide in the shadows before reanimating to remove trespassers from their sanctuary, some in alchoves while one Gargoyle seemingly flies up to attack from within the cathedral itself. Into the trenches of World War I from Nightingales: Blood Prey, one beast feeds a fallen soldier, while more Banshees stalk the Medical barracks, feasting on wounded soldiers in both their human and “revealed” forms. Moving into the bunker from Havoc: Dogs of War, steel chains and chainsaws hang from the ceiling as two armed supersoldiers emerge and begin to fire upon their targets.

Entering into the neighghborhood from PsychoScareapy: Home for the Holidays, Christmas trees and red/white curtains line the length of the hall, hiding both a chainsaw wielding Santa and Mrs. Claus as guests navigate through another strobe effect. In Jack’s makeup room, spilled makeup splatters the desk while a massive lit-up ornate mirror sits on the wall. The jester, now in his most current design, opens and appears from behind the mirror. Finally, guests enter into the carnival’s Big Top, where dozens of Jacks (in all three iterations) wait while a final stobe light flashes over the room. Navigating through the sea of clowns, a few of them begin to attack, laughing at guests while they maneuver out of the soundstage. The final scene takes place outside with equipment from Jack’s caravan and butchering tools lay scattered about. Both Eddie and Meaty Meetz from Leave it to Cleaver would alternate or attack together from their respective sides (Eddie amongst his brother’s belongings, Meetz with his tools) with their chainsaws, chasing guests fully out of the house.
