Insidious: Return to the Further was one of the six haunted mazes that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights 2015 (Hollywood). It was located in the Jurassic Park Queue.

Description[]

The Further is a world far beyond our own, yet it's all around us - a place without time as we know it. It's a dark realm filled with the tortured souls of the dead. A place not meant for the living... they crave life; the chance to live again. But there are other entities who are malevolent and have a more insidious agenda. A new threat has crossed over from that world into ours, a threat that does not merely seek to possess the souls of the living but to steal the living back to their world of shadows and keep them there for eternity. To face this new threat, we are going to have to confront the demons where they live; we are going to have to Return to The Further! Welcome to Insidious: Return to the Further, a terrifying journey into the paranormal based on all three chapters of the Insidious saga. Keep a steady stride, into The Further you go!

Facade[]

The Facade was the Lambert Residence with lights in the Windows. Guests would then enter the Maze.

Haunted Maze[]

Guests would enter the Foyer of the House where there would be the Staircase and Fog surrounding the Scene on the floor. There would be a fixture of lighting pointing to the Baby Monitor on the table to which there was a Audio Cue which would have all of the lights turn off and show The Bride in Black behind a Painting.

Guests go down a Hallway where at the End is a Picture of the Lambert Family with their faces scratched out. Guests could see a Candle behind it to which the Bride in Black would pull the Painting back and pop out.

Guests would then enter Dalton's Room where the Room was in Disarray. To the right on the wall was Dalton's Drawings. There would be a Camers that would give Flashes of light in the room. There then would be a Projection of the Red Lipstick Demon crawling across the Wall into a Hole to which the Actor would then pop out of at guests. Guests then exit the scene via Curtains with the Red Lipstick Demon's Handprint on them.

Guests would then go into a Hallway of the Lambert House that would then switch into the Red Lipstick Demon's Lair. At the end of the Hallway on the left the Red Lipstick Demon would pop out at guests.

Guests would enter an area before the Red Lipstick Demon's Lair which showed Dalton on the right shivering as a Shadow Projection of the Red Lipstick Demon was shown behind a Window looming.

Guests then entered the Red Lipstick Demon's Lair where guests could see all of his toys and masks. The Red Lipstick Demon would be on a Elevated Platform behind Curtains and would be able to pop out at guests from multiple angles.

Guests enter a Black Room before entering a Scene lit by Candles where the Bride in Black is choking a Static Figure of Elise Rainer before attacking guests. Guests then enter another Black Room before entering the next scene.

Guests then enter the Bride in Black's Lair where there were a bunch of Static Figures of people in Body Bags and also a Static Figure of a Women tied down. A Body Bag Ghost would pop out at guests and then the Bride in Black would pop at guests. There also was a Newspaper in a Box about the Bride in Black. Before guests exited the scene another Body Bag Ghost popped out at them.

Guests go down a Series of 2 Black Hallways where in the 2nd one there was a Shirtless Old Man Ghost on a Elevated Platform taunting guests.

Guests would then enter Parker Crane's Bedroom where a Static Figure of him sits on the Bed. Michelle Crane then pops out at guests. Guests then enter another Black Room.

Guests then enter the Outside of a Elevator to which they enter and behind a Wall Panel is a Further Ghost with a Noose that pops out at guests.

Guests then enter Quinn's Room where there are lights on her bed. Guests see lights that show a Static Figure of the Man Who Can't Breathe to which guests see to the left Black footsteps on the wall that lead up to a Elevated Platform above the scene that a Performer playing the Man Who Can't Breathe would pop out at guests from.

Guests then enter the Closet where there is Clothes hanging down and a Static Figure of the Man Who Can't Breathe hanging upside down. Guests then enter a Hotel Hallway where 3 Performers playing the Man Who Can't Breathe would pop out from Elevated Platforms at guests.

Guests then enter a Completely Black Room with a bunch of Static Figures of Further Ghosts to which 3 of them were real and would pop out at guests.

Guests go down a Hallway and would enter Elise's Seance Room where there would be the Black Footstep Prints on the wall and the Bride in Black would pop out first from behind a Curtain, then the Man Who Can't Breathe would pop out from behind a Curtain, and then the Red Lipstick Demon would pop out at guests from behind a Curtain. Guests would then exit the Maze.

Trivia[]

  • The codename for the maze was Post-Punk. [1].
  • Murdy wrote in the treatment all of the pieces of Dalton’s artwork he wanted on the walls of Dalton's room. Dalton draws these pictures after his paranormal encounters with the Red Demon (AKA Lipstick Demon) so it becomes visual storytelling in the maze. [2].
  • The HHN Creative Team filmed a video sequence for the Maze that the performer playing the Red Demon could activate showing him crawling across the wall & into a hole before the real performer popped out. [3].
  • This Maze was the First time HHN Hollywood did their Disappearing Room Effect. [4].
  • The Props made for the Red Demon's Lair was made by a Guy on the Prop Team that used to work with Marilyn Manson. [5].
  • The Red Demon's Lair was designed so the performer could stalk people throughout the Room and pop out at multiple angles. [6].
  • All of the Black Walls in the Further Scenes were covered with Black Fabric so it would end up being way darker. [7].
  • The Creative Team built an Actual Plaster Sequence for the Hotel Hallway so it would feel like the Man Who Can't Breathe is actually coming from the Ceiling. [8].
  • They couldn't decide on which Antagonist to use as the Final Scare in the Maze since there were 3. So they decided on using all 3 for the Finale. [9].
  • Murdy's Favorite Character in this Maze was the Shirtless Old Man Ghost. Murdy was so impressed with the Actor's performance that he wrote the part of Hollywood Harry for the Actor. [10].
  • This maze tied with Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home for Maze of the Year.
  • During one of the event nights Writer Leigh Whannel, Director James Wan, Lin Shaye and Stefanie Scott stars of the recent Insidious Chapter 3 this house featured experienced the haunted house.
