HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS XIV HAUNTS THE ELECTRONIC HIGHWAY WITH CRYPTIC, INTERACTIVE WEB SITE
Hidden Details And Back Stories Will Be Added As Event Approaches To Prepare Visitors For Extreme Event Spanning Two Theme Parks
ORLANDO, FLORIDA - Halloween goes high-tech this year with a unique new Web site providing the behind-the-scenes scoop on Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights XIV, taking the fear into the electronic realm.
Web sites traditionally are purveyors of information: prices, times, locations, etc. This year, for Halloween Horror Nights XIV, Universal Orlando has taken all things Web-related to the next level, literally "broadening the scare," and making a Web site dedicated to one of the world's biggest Halloween celebrations an interactive part of the whole experience.
Universal Orlando will continue to add details about Halloween Horror Nights to the Web site as the event's opening day approaches. The frequent content updates will take people deeper and deeper into the stories and scares that shape this year's event.
"We created a Web site where people can see if they have what it takes to experience Halloween Horror Nights XIV," said Kurt Kostur, vice president of Universal Orlando Marketing Communications. "This year's Halloween event will deliver unprecedented levels of fear. Our Web site will give people new insight into that fear and how we create it. It's the prefect way to prepare for the event itself."
From now through the start of Halloween Horror Nights, fans can click onto www.halloweenhorrornights.com and discover hidden details and "back story" about many of the elements that make up the event, which this year, for the first time, takes place in two theme parks - Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Web visitors can click on mysterious images of boxes which when "opened" contain personal effects of victims who have experienced the fear to be found inside Halloween Horror Night's haunted houses. The Web site is developed to be as surprising and provocative as the event itself.
As the Web site is updated throughout the months leading up to the Oct. 1 opening, details about the scare zones, entertainment, "Festival of the Dead Parade," and even the back stories surrounding the themes of the seven all new haunted houses will appear. Additional multimedia including video, photo galleries, and desktop backgrounds will also be discovered.
The Web site is open a full month earlier than in previous years and will evolve and grow as each day passes. It features an overview outlining the details of Halloween Horror Nights, an online ticket store which provides the opportunity to purchase and print tickets, and a first look at an animated "fly-through" map detailing the brand-new layout of the annual event, including, for the first time, both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure theme parks.
Beginning at 7 PM, Halloween Horror Nights XIV will run eighteen nights between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31: on Oct. 1, 2, 8-10, 13-17, 21-24, and 28-31. Tickets for Halloween Horror Nights may be purchased at both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure theme parks, on the Web at www.halloweenhorrornights.com, by calling 1-877-284-GORY (4679), or at Florida Spencer Gifts locations. Because of the event's popularity, tickets for weekend nights are expected to sell out and should be purchased in advance. Regular admission for all guests is $54.75.
