Halloween Horror Nights 22 was the 22nd Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios Florida. This was the first event since 2007 to have one huge parkwide scarezone rather then multiple scarezones scattered throughout the park.
It was also be the first event since 2006 to have only 7 houses rather then the usual 8, possibly due to the demolition of the JAWS Queue in January 2012.
Information Timeline[]
- On July 14th, 2012: Silent Hill and The Walking Dead were confirmed houses to be coming to the event.
- On July 25th, 2012: Alice Cooper: Welcome to My Nightmare would be announced as another house coming to the event.
- On August 3rd, 2012: Universal announced that they were partnering with magicians Penn and Teller to create the house Penn & Teller: New(kd) Vegas for the event.
- On August 26th, 2012: Universal announced Universal House of Horrors coming to the event.
- On August 30, 2012, all of the houses, shows and parkwide scarezone were revealed on the Halloween Horror Nights Orlando Facebook page.

- Originally Universal were toying around with the idea of making this year a two park event branching Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures again, an idea that hadn't been done since its Halloween Horror Nights: Tales of Terror.
- Hercules/Xena building was rumored to be a Mayan Temple themed house and another idea of Chupacabras when a permit identified a scene named "Spikes", the house was midway through construction till the venue was torn down and replaced by Transformers.
- First time HHN licensed a video game property for the event with the Welcome to Silent Hill (Orlando) haunted house based on the Silent Hill series.
- First and only time to feature Alice Cooper at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando event.
