Jack, Clown Prince of Halloween, grins maniacally from the center of a giant Ferris wheel, beckoning you into his Carnival of Carnage.

Once inside, you realize all is not right: curiosity becomes panic becomes fear becomes physical and psychological terror."

"And, of course, every carnival needs a clown. And when it comes to clowns, there is only one that is maniacal and twisted enough to be Ringmaster for the Carnival of Carnage. That would be Jack."

Halloween Horror Nights: Carnival of Carnage was the 17th Halloween Horror Nights event in Orlando. Located at Universal Studios Florida, it featured the return of Jack the Clown as event icon and leader of the traveling Carnival of Carnage. His carnival had brought together a number of attractions to present for the event, including three modern horror icons from New Line Cinema.

Notable Characters (Jack and the Sideshows)[]

  • Jack the Ringmaster- Formerly a member of Dr. Oddfellow’s traveling carnival, he was revived many times to help bring fear to Universal. Now that he has killed his betraying master and stole his cane of souls, he now leads the Carnival of Carnage where he brought his own Sideshows.
  • Freddy Krueger- Like Jack, he was a killer who particularly preyed on children, even after he was burned alive by angry parents. The Ringmaster recruited him to as a sideshow for his Carnival. He is now helped by the disaster called Sleepwell, which was supposed to protect people from his bad dreams but instead inflicted a state where they experience dreams even when they’re awake.
  • Jason Voorhees- Years of abuse and the death of his mother unleashed the ruthlessness within the deformed machete master. He is determined to protect his beloved camp from all those he deems unruly and unclean. The renaming of Camp Crystal Lake to Camp Packanack is barely a setback to him.
  • Leatherface- Another mentally challenged but still dangerous madman for the Carnival. Thomas Hewitt is skilled in the art of chainsaw wizardry, and wears masks made from those he killed. His family also owns a side business called Blair Meats.
  • Mary Shaw- The ghost of a woman who made a living in puppeteering. She still continues her act in the Carnival of Carnage with hundreds of dolls for performance. Those who scream will find it to be the last thing they do.
  • The Thing- A being from outer space. First it was discovered in an research facility in the Arctic; and it proceeded to massacre the whole area. The U.S. Government has hired scientists to examine the alien’s unique SHAPESHIFTING powers.

Trivia[]

  • This was the first time New Line Cinema characters were used at the event in an official state (previous appearances were unlicensed).
  • Hollywood, LA reused Jack and (loosely) the carnival for their event that happened the same year; as both coasts used The New Line Cinema characters.
  • New Line was VERY protective of the use of their characters this year. They were required to wear cloaks when cast changes occurred. Originally there were going to be the New Line Trio at Jack’s show, a Freddy vs Jason scarezone, Leatherface leading the Chainsaw Drill Team, but NLC vetoed them all.
  • Despite the name change of the haunted house on the other marketing materials for the event, PsychoScareapy: Home for the Holidays still has its original name Silent Night Psychotic Night featured on the House Shirt that year.
  • First appearance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the event.
