Description[]

Welcome to Halloween: Hell Comes to Haddonfield, the terrifying sequel to 2015's Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home, the highest rated maze in the history of Halloween Horror Nights! Picking up where the classic film ended, you'll experience the shocking final confrontation between Dr. Loomis and Michael Myers in the Doyle house, only to realize that the real terror is just getting started! As Dr. Loomis well knows, "You can't kill The Boogeyman." Michael Myers is still out there... relentlessly pursuing his prey from the sleepy streets of Haddonfield to the labyrinth-like hallways of the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. You thought he was finished. But it was just the beginning. This night of nightmares isn't over.

Experience[]

Facade[]

The facade was the exterior of the Doyle House where a projection of Laurie Strode talking to Tommy and Lindsey could be seen in the bottom left window. The audio would then switch to Mr. Sandman and gunshots, as flashes of lighting from the doors above the deck could be seen. Finally, guests could hear the audio of Samuel Loomis talking to the neighbor. Guests would then enter the maze.

Haunted Maze[]

Guests would enter the Living Room of the Doyle House where there is a TV playing "The Thing from Another World". Behind a window curtain lighting revealed a static figure of Michael Myers staring at guests. Guests would then go into a hallway where Michael Myers would pop out from behind a painting.

Guests then entered the Doyle Bedroom where Michael Myers would come from two doors to attack guests. Samuel Loomis would then shoot Michael pushing him back. The closet in this scene was smashed in and next to the bed was a static figure of Laurie Strode who was kneeling. Guests would then enter a hallway of paintings and then exit the Doyle House.

Guests would then enter an alleyway with a patch of grass with a Impression on it which was where Michael Myers landed when he fell from the balcony. On the left of it was fences and a trash can next to a house. Michael Myers would pop out from behind a curtain in this scene. On the right were fences and behind it was a static figure of Samuel Loomis and Sheriff Brackett with a Police Car behind them. In the center of the hallway was a sign that said "Haddonfield Memorial Hospital". Guests would turn left and a Trick 'r Treater would pop out with a shaker can from behind a door.

Guests would then approach the facade of the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital where a silhouette of Michael Myers could be seen in one of the lower windows. To the right was a bench with a kid dressed as a pirate sitting on it. He had blood oozing from his mouth because he ate candy with a razorblade hidden in it. Guests would then enter the hospital.

Inside the hospital, guests would enter the Security Station where the static figure of Bernard Garrett was sitting at a desk with a hammer in his head. In front of him was TV monitors. Only one worked and it would switch to different parts of the hospital. Michael Myers would pop out behind guests with a hammer.

Continuing on, guests would enter the Nurse's Station where there was a TV monitor showing Michael Myers staring at guests. There were also garlands that said "Happy Halloween" above a static figure of a nurse with a knife in her back. To the right of her was a brightly-lit pumpkin.

Guests would then enter Laurie's Room and saw her vacant bed and a TV showing footage of Robert Mundy reporting on the new murders in Haddonfield. Lighting would reveal the static figure of Michael Myers behind a hospital curtain as Michael Myers popped out from behind a door.

Guests would then enter a hallway in an administrative part of the hospital where there was red lighting. In this hall, guests could see Michael Myers lifting Nurse Janet up with a knife.

Guests would then enter the Doctor's Office where there was a fish tank and the static figure of Janet Marshall with a needle in her head next to it. At the desk was the static figure of Doctor Mixter with a needle in his eye. Michael Myers would then pop out at guests holding a needle from behind a door before they left the scene.

Guests would enter a short hallway leading to the Hydrotherapy Room, which had the static figure of Bud dead on the floor. Guests would then enter the Hydrotherapy Room where they could see an alarm going off as Michael Myers dipped Nurse Karen's face into a pool of boiling water.

Guests would then enter the Minor Surgery Room where the static figure of Nurse Alves could be seen on a gurney with an IV sticking out of her arm. Next to it was a pool of blood with the static figure of Jimmy lying in it. Michael Myers would pop out from behind a door in this scene.

Guests would enter a short hallway leading to the Major Surgery scene. In it was a static figure of Samuel Loomis with a blood stain on his chest. There was also a blind Michael Myers with blood coming out of his eyes swinging a knife at guests as a crouched Laurie Strode shot him.

Guests would then enter a short black hallway before entering a black void with a bunch of UV-lit Skull-Faced Pumpkins scattered all throughout the room. The UV lighting would turn on and off as four of the Pumpkins jumped out and attacked guests. The audio in this scene was a slowed down version of Mr. Sandman.

Guests would then approach a facade of a giant UV Pumpkin and enter it. Inside was orange cloth representing pumpkin guts and there were two Michael Myers scares. Guests would then exit the maze.

Trivia[]

  • The codename for this maze was "Wisconsin" [1].
  • For them, trying to do a sequel to 2015’s Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home was going to be a hard act to follow since that maze was the highest rated in the history of the event. But the 1978 film was also a hard act to follow so they decided to do an homage to the 1981 sequel Halloween 2. [2].
  • They basically approached the maze by dividing it into three main sections. Like the film, they wanted to pick up right where the first movie ended, with Loomis shooting Michael in the Doyle house [3].
  • The Facade of the House was the Doyle house from the end of the 78 film/beginning of the 81 sequel. Guests saw a shadow projection of Laurie telling the kids to go to the neighbors house and saw gun flashes in the upstairs window by the balcony. [4].
  • Entering the Doyle house, guests passed through the living room & into the bedroom where they witnessed the final moments from the 78 film/beginning of the sequel. Dr. Loomis shooting Michael, a well choreographed sequence with the performers miming to pre-recorded audio/lighting fx. [5].
  • The exterior scene leading up to the hospital gave them the chance to work in the H3 Silver Shamrock trick r treaters and also a really cool tableau of Dr Loomis shouting to the police officer, “I shot him! I shot him 6 times! He’s not human!” Etc. [6].
  • Outside the hospital, guests encountered a kid dressed as a pirate who bit into an apple with a razor blade hidden in it. This scene in the film contributed to an urban legend (later disproved) that all but killed trick 'r treating for a while...so the team had to include him in the maze [7].
  • Stepping inside the hospital, guests passed by the security and nurses station and saw the handiwork of Michael Myers. The footage of Michael Myers in the security monitors, stalking the hospital hallways was all original footage that the team shot for the maze [8].
  • Laurie’s Room had a cool 2 part audio/lighting trigger. The 1st part revealed a static figure of Michael Myers behind a curtained off section of the room, staring at you. This was designed to pull guests focus in one direction, before Michael attacked from the opposite direction. [9].
  • Murdy made a Cameo in House playing a News Reporter called Robert Mundy on the TV in Laurie's Room. [10].
  • Halloween 2 has some of the most unique kills in the film series, so they tried to feature as many as possible in the maze. This included the doctor with the hypodermic needle in this eye. [11].
  • One iconic scene in Halloween 2 takes place in a hallway, where Michael impales a nurse with a scalpel and then lifts her into the air. The team designed a special pulley system that allowed their live performer to recreate this scene over and over and over again [12].
  • Murdy's favorite kill in the film/maze was the hydrotherapy scene [13].
  • Magee FX designed a custom figure that the performer playing Michael could repeatedly dunk into the roiling water. [14].
  • Minor surgery had the scene of the nurse drained of all her blood and Major Surgery had Laurie’s final confrontation with Michael where she miraculously shoots him in both eyes. But they still wanted a unexpected ending like the 2015 House.[15].
  • The inspiration for the finale of Halloween: Hell Comes to Haddonfield was the original theatrical poster and opening title sequence for Halloween 2 [16].
  • In Murdy's Opinion, the coolest sequence happened in a black void, filled with scores of glowing UV pumpkin skulls floating in limbo, a combination of static figures & live performers . This scene didn’t exist in the movie, but it seemed the perfect finale to a maze inspired by Halloween 2. [17].
  • Murdy worked with the Audio Designers to create the disoriented and slowed down version of Mr. Sandman (Rob Zombie’s Halloween version) for the finale of the maze [18].
  • They did a oversized reproduction of the Halloween 2 film poster, which was partly a dimensional sculpture and partly a digital print. The mouth of the figure was printed on to vinyl strip curtains so guests could literally walk into the pumpkin. [19].
