History and Location[]
Universal announced that a haunted house based on the Ghostbusters franchise would be featured at their Halloween Horror Nights event that year. The house would take guests through many of the scenes from the film series.
The house would be located in Soundstage 23. It is notable for being the first ever soundstage used for Halloween Horror Nights Orlando.
The codename for the house was S'mores because the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is the mascot for a popular marshmallow company within the Ghostbusters universe.
Description[]
He'll Chill You to the Bone
In this bone-chilling haunted house inspired by the film “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the Ghostbusters must team up to save the world from a second Ice Age. A new specter, Garraka, has escaped from an ancient artifact. He’ll stop you cold with a whole army of ghosts. Try not to freeze in fear as you dodge spears of ice and he freezes people solid before your eyes.

Haunted House[]
Guests enter Soundstage 23 and approach the entrance to Ray's Occult Books. Outside of the entrance, a glowing blue light and violent shaking comes from a garbage can to the left while shaking and munching noises come from a hot dog stand to the right. Occasionally, a manhole cover on the right would open and blue light would emit from the sewers, accompanied by a growl and, occasionally, a blast of fog.
Guests enter into the shop, where Ray Stantz is explaining Garraka's death chill. At one point he speaks to Hubert Wartzki over the phone, who further explains who Garraka is, and at another point he scans Garraka's orb with a PKE meter, surprised by the results. Podcast pops out to the left of guests with a large wooden hammer (that gets the views) as they pass by him and his table of smashed items. As guests pass Ray, some Mini-Pufts can be seen moving on one of the bookshelves to the left, and the brick wall across from Ray briefly disappears, showing the brass room that Garraka's orb used to be stored in. As guests make a right into the next room, the Ecto-1 can be seen to the left as it races down the street.
As guests enter the next room they are blasted by cold air, entering The Manhattan Adventurers Society, a room in which all of the men have been frozen. Garraka appears from the wall to the right and one of the frozen men lunges from the left. Guests continue further, passing by the society table as a chilly firefighter rushes into the room, axe at the ready. As guests wrap around the table to leave the room, the hand of one of the society members can be seen still gripping the handle of the phonograph to the right.
Guests then enter the New York City sewers. On their right is a tunnel blocked by a grate, and beyond it pink ectoplasm oozes from the ceiling. On their left the Hell's Kitchen Sewer Dragon attacks from its own tunnel. As they turn right, a Miner Ghost attacks from the right, while Ecto-1 can be seen chasing Slimer on the left. As guests turn right again to leave the sewer, the miner ghost attacks once more, before they are finally in the clear.
Guests then enter the Ghostbusters' Paranormal Research Center, and on the left Lars Pinfield rushes at them, panicking as he tries to get Mini-Pufts off of his jumpsuit. At one point during the chaos, the power shuts off in the room, and Lars comments that the proton fields are down. Guests continue as Lucky Domingo appears on the right, proton pack ready, only for the neutrona wand to freeze up and the pack to stall. As guests pass Lucky, the body of Phoebe Spengler can be seen lying lifeless in the Ionic Separator to the right. A possessed, ghostly Phoebe then appears by the Separator, eyes glowing. As guests enter a hallway of containment tanks, the tank lights flash, revealing two different contained ghosts: Pukey (who appears in the first tank on the left and sprays guests) and Vigo the Carpathian (who appears in the last tank to the right). A projection shows the wall beginning to freeze, and Garraka's shadow appears, blue eyes glowing. As guests turn right and exit the room, Vigo lunges out of the side of his tank.
Guests then enter a dark hallway with broken containment tanks, where they are swiped at by Bonesy and a Terror Dog to the right. To the left, Garraka looms over guests, while further down the corridor a projection of the Librarian ghost shushes them before she attacks in her more rageful-looking form.
Guests then find themselves in front of the Ghostbusters' firehouse as it begins to freeze. A powerful gust of cold wind chills them, and snow pelts down from above as Garraka swipes at guests from the right. Slimer can be seen floating around erratically in the windows above as a proton stream is shot into the air. Guests then enter the side of the firehouse, where they can see Gary Grooberson dealing with a frozen containment unit to their right. From the chasm in the wall behind the unit, more cold air hits guests.
Once guests exit the basement, Trevor Spengler can be found to the left. Trevor begins to shoot wildly with his proton pack, and guests follow his proton stream, which contacts Slimer further down the hallway. Slimer seems surprised, feeling the effects of the proton stream until it stops, when he then begins trying to grab and eat garbage.
Guests enter the next room, coming face to face with an exasperated Winston Zeddemore. As guests turn left, the Ecto-1, controlled by the Possessor and shining sinister red headlights, appears, smashing through the wall with its siren blaring. To the left of the Ecto-1, Janine Melnitz pops out and blasts the car with a compact thrower, disabling it. Janine's desk is found to the right of guests across from the Ecto-1, and on top of the desk a few Mini-Pufts are driving a Remote Trap Vehicle (RTV). Guests turn right around the table, and in front of them Fire Master Nadeem Razmaadi and Phoebe are attempting to take out Garraka. He lunges at guests until Phoebe, shooting with her proton pack, and the Fire Master, using pyrokinesis, push him back. Garraka begins to stumble back into the foggy opening behind him as guests make a left out of the room.
Guests then enter a dimly lit hallway, and head towards the open doorway at the other end. Near the end of the hall, Janine appears to the right, asking guests where they think they're going in an annoyed tone. Behind her, Mini-Pufts can be seen causing mischief in a few holes in the wall. As guests leave the hallway, more Mini-Pufts are seen around the illuminated exit sign above. Turning right to leave the house, Garraka can be found one last time to the right of guests, and he growls at them as they exit the soundstage.
