The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of the nine haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights 26. It was located in Sprung Tent 2. The house was based on the original 1974 film.

History and Location[]

On April 14th, 2016, Universal announced that a haunted house based on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise would be coming to their Halloween Horror Nights event that year. The house would feature many key scenes from the first Texas Chainsaw movie. The codename for this house was "Meat" or "Meatheads", as meat was the reason that the Sawyer family killed.

In 2006, Universal built two hurricane-proof tents behind the World Expo area of the park specifically for holding Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses. This house would be located in the northernmost one (called Sprung Tent 2).

In 2021, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre would return as a haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 30. This house would also be based on the 1974 classic.

Queue and Facade[]

The queue entrance was located to the right of the Men in Black restrooms. It went down a road that led to the front of Sprung Tent 2 where it would then continuously loop around the side of the Men in Black building. Eventually guests would reach the facade, which was the Sawyer House with dead trees in front of it. After that guests walked around the Sprung Tent and into the house.

Haunted House[]

Guests entered the house and then entered the Sitting Room where there was furniture made out of human bones. Nubbins Sawyer popped out from behind a shelf with a knife.

Guests continued on and entered the foyer of the house with a staircase on the right. Kirkland would run out of a steel door before Leatherface popped out from behind him, hit him in the head with a hammer, and shut the door.

Then, guests entered the Kitchen where Pam was on a meathook screaming in pain as Leatherface cut Kirkland up with his chainsaw on a table. Next, guests would enter a short hallway where Leatherface could be seen behind a series of windows grinding his chainsaw on the windowsill. At the end of the hall, Leatherface broke through a window and revved his chainsaw in guests' faces.

Guests then entered the Dinning Room where Drayton Sawyer popped out on the right and Leatherface popped out with his chainsaw on the left. Grandpa Sawyer could also be seen sitting on a chair. Guests continued into a small hallway where Leatherface popped out on the right.

Guests then re-entered the foyer of the house, where Nubbins Sawyer popped out on the right and Leatherface popped out on the left next to the stairs. After that, guests entered another scene where flashes of light from a camera flashed while Leatherface popped out at guests from behind.

Guests then entered the bathroom and saw body parts in the bathtub. As they exited, they saw Leatherface pop out on the left. Guests continued on to see Grandma and Grandpa in chairs inside of a room across from them which Leatherface popped out of. Guests then entered a hallway with curtains on the right. Sally popped out at guests and screams as Leatherface chases her down a hall. At the end of the hall she jumps out a window.

The final portion of the house took place outdoors. Guests could see Franklin's corpse in his wheelchair as Leatherface popped out on the left. Leatherface would also pop out on the right from behind a tree. As guests left the final portion of the house, one final Leatherface would attack guests from behind a fence.

  • Inside one of the rooms was a changing portrait from the haunted house, Dead Silence: The Curse of Mary Shaw.
  • The Creative Team used the ground plans of the actual house from the film and recreated it for the facade of the house.
  • Pamela Voorhees' head can be seen in one of the final rooms of the house.
  • Grandpa and Grandma can be seen in a room with Leatherface near the end of the haunted house.
