The Purge was one of the nine haunted houses that was featured during Halloween Horror Nights 25. It was located in Sprung Tent 1 and was based off of the first two Purge movies.

History and Location

Originally, during Halloween Horror Nights 25, there was going to be a haunted house based on the Scream franchise. The codename would be "Reboot", because of the Scream reboot TV show (although the house was based off of the original movie series). However, due to some legal reasons, this idea was scrapped and instead replaced by another house.

On August 17th, 2015, Universal announced that a haunted house based on the Purge franchise would be coming to their Halloween Horror Nights event that year. The house would feature many key scenes from the first two Purge movies.

In 2006, Universal built two hurricane-proof tents behind the World Expo area of the park specifically for holding Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses. This house would be located in the southernmost one (called Sprung Tent 1).

The Purge would return during Halloween Horror Nights 27 as a scarezone called The Purge. That same year, The Purge appeared as a part of The Horrors of Blumhouse haunted house.

Description

This year's Purge is more brutal than ever. From the moment you step inside the house, dozens of vicious vigilantes will descend upon you as they exercise their right to purge.

Trivia

• This house was made last minute after the deal between Universal and Dimensions to bring Scream to the event fell through.
• The usage of "fake guests" for this house were believable in which scareactors dressed as regular guests would be pulled from the line and have their throat slit.
• Some of the scenes that were most notably changed from the original Scream house were Casey Becker's kitchen, Sidney Prescotts' room, Woodsboro Girls Bathroom.
