History and Location[]
On August 10th, 2016, Universal announced that a scarezone based on a haunted wharf would be featured at that years Halloween Horror Nights event. The scarezone would bring guests face to face with the ghosts of dead sailors.
The scarezone would be located in the San Francisco area of the park, an area located near the middle of the park themed after the city of San Francisco. A large ship served as the main set-piece for this scarezone. The scarezone would prove to be very popular and would win the Scarezone of the Year award in 2016.
In 2020, a story based around this scarezone was released by Blake Braswell. The story would be called "Fisherman's Sonata". Sets and characters from the zone would also be featured in the 2021 scarezone, Lights Camera Hacktion: Eddie's Revenge.
During Halloween Horror Nights 31, the scarezone would receive an unofficial sequel in the form of the Dead Man's Pier: Winter's Wake haunted house. Although set in a completely different setting and environment, the basic idea of the scarezone would be retained for this house.
Description[]
The spirits of the dead fishermen lost to the sea have returned to make the dock earn its morbid nickname.
Backstory[]
On October 30th, 1931, the fishing vessel Annabel Lee, captained by Arthur Wilson, left this harbor and would never return. That evening, a thick fog blanketed the area preventing any attempt at search and rescue. Once the weather cleared, a search yielded no results. Certain that the vessel and her crew were lost forever; the town decided to leave the wharf empty as a memorial. As years passed, the dock gained the nickname "Dead Man's Wharf."
