Urban Legends: La Llorona was one of the eight haunted houses that was featured during Halloween Horror Nights 23. It was located in Sprung Tent 1. The house was based off of the Latin/American myth of La Llorona.

History and Location[]

On August 30th, 2013, Universal announced that a haunted house based on the legend of La Llorona would be featured at Halloween Horror Nights 23. This was most likely due to the success of previous La Llorona haunted houses at Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood. The house would bring guests through the story of La Llorona.

In 2006, Universal built two hurricane-proof tents behind the World Expo area of the park specifically for holding Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses. This house would be located in the southernmost one (called Sprung Tent 1).

Description[]

She is known as The Weeping Woman. Her legend is one of tragedy… and of murder. She drowned her children in the cold, watery depths and now torments all who hear her with icy, mournful cries. Forced to walk the Earth for eternity, she seeks others to share her pain and suffering, now and forever.

The weeping woman's cries for her children send chills colder than the depths in which she drowned them. She walks the earth seeking others to share her pain.

Experience[]

Queue and Facade[]

Guests would enter the queue near the entrance to the Barney show. Guests would go through the queue for the Barney show, and would eventually reach the Barney show area. Going through a backdoor, guests would head towards Sprung Tent 1.

As guests approached the tent, they would see the facade of an Old Mexican Church. Various props were laid outside the church to give it a more authentic feel. A queue video was projected on the church detailing the backstory of La Llorona. Guests would enter the house through the front door of the church as the bell of the church begins to toll.

Guests enter into the halls of the Church, continuing down into a room of a pews on either side of them, they're attacked on their right, continuing forward through curtains they are met with the sight of a recent child victim of La Llorona laying in a coffin and attacked by an eyeless victim of La Llorona coming out of the room behind the coffin as guests make a left out of the room.

Guests continue enter through corridors of the church until they are attacked by a living statue on their right, passing by they continue on into a wine cellar where they're attacked by La Llorona on their left.

Guests enter into the next room where a victim can be seen on the ground leaning on a brick wall surrounded by lit and unlit candles as in front of them a projection of La Llorona shakes and begins to scream out at them as they make a left and then a right into the next room.

Guests enter another corridor where they're attacked by La Llorona on their left, guests continue forward down some more corridors until they're hit with a living statue on their statue before leaving the room.

Guests enter the next room where they're outside, above a staircase is a cloaked La Llorona as on the guests' right a little river with two drowned children can be seen as a distraction for La Llorona to attacked on their left of the room as they exit.

Guests continue forward down some more corridors as fog fills the rooms around them, they would be hit by La Llorona on various sides in rooted sceneries including the Horse Head Llorona.
