Doomsday was one of the five haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights IX. It was located in the Earthquake Queue along with The Mummy.

History and Location[]

In the year 1999, the Y2K scare was going around. This theory stated that once the year hit 2000, all electronics in the world would fail and "doomsday" would occur, as all of the nukes would be fired and all of the airplanes would fall out of the sky. Universal decided to play on this fear for their Halloween Horror Nights event in 1999, by having a haunted house set in the aftermath of this "doomsday".

The house would be one of two haunted houses featured in the large extended queue for the Earthquake attraction that year, the other being The Mummy.

In 2008, another house titled Doomsday would appear. However, that house is completely unrelated to this one, as it was based on the 2008 movie of the same name.

Description[]

Go on a journey through the warped underground of New York City as the impending arrival of the Millennium brings out the worst in the city that never sleeps.

Story[]

The story was that a large number of people had fled into the New York City underground to hide for the turn of the millennium, with the worst and strongest attacking anyone passing through to defend their territory.

Settings[]

  • Subway
  • Sanctuary

Experience[]

Queue[]

Guests would most likely enter the queue through the entrance to the Earthquake attraction. The line would lead them to one of the backstage doors on the ride, leading into the house.

Haunted House[]

At one point guests walked through a subway with scattered blood splatters and zombie scareactors reaching for them through the windows. There was also a "sanctuary" with a heavily-bleeding woman tied to a pole and robed scareactors in pews. According to this, there was also a classroom scene full of cloaked figures that were dummies, though this may be referring to the church room mentioned above. Near the end, the robed scareactors were shown to be demons, and the heat was cranked up to symbolize the guests going to hell.

Trivia[]

  • According to a scareactor, the house was originally going to be based on the film End of Days. Excerpts from the soundtrack would later be used for Adaru.
  • The Dark Torment house during Halloween Horror Nights X began with the last scene of this house in which guests entered their graves. That and the fact that both houses contained the same hooded demon scareactors could justify the point that Dark Torment was a sequel to this house.
  • According to this, the haunted house had T.J. Mannarino's name graffitied on one of the walls.
