Fear Factor was one of the five haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights: Islands of Fear. It was located in the Thunder Falls Terrace. The house was based off the reality television series of the same name.

History and Location[]

Originally in 2002, when Cindy was planned to be the icon for the Halloween Horror Nights event that year, there would be a haunted house called Fear Factor that would be based off of the TV show of the same name. The house would make guests face various primal fears like bugs and the dark.

The house would be located in the Thunderfalls Seasonal Restaurant, a restaurant located in the Jurassic Park area of Islands of Adventure (though guests entered the house in Toon Lagoon). The restaurant was closed and cleared out to make room for the house. Due to the linear nature of Islands of Adventure, this house was designed to be the third haunted house guests would visit.

After Cindy was scrapped as the icon, the haunted house did not change at all. This haunted house was also one of the first houses to have a really negative reputation, with many guests saying it was the worst house in the history of the event.

The event would not really do anything largely revolving around bugs again until the Bugs: Eaten Alive haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 31.

Description[]

Imagine a place where your greatest fears become reality. Feel your way through absolute darkness in room crawling with insects, snakes, spiders, worms, rats and more.

Queue[]

Guests would enter the queue right outside of the entrance to Jurassic Park. The queue would wrap around the backlot area of the park in between the Dudley Do-Right ride and Thunderfalls Terrace. A large video screen was erected there to play Fear Factor clips while Weird Al Yankovic's song Eat It played.

Haunted House[]

The lights in this house were dimmer than usual. A guests entered the house they would see a green light that would flash on and of. Rooms featuring snakes, worms, spiders, intestines, and rats were featured, as they are what people fear. The Rat Lady appeared in this house. One room had walls covered with spiders, and someone with a glass cube on their head with creatures inside appeared. The room also had thin strings hanging from the ceiling, simulating actual spider webs. The worm room was dark, and featured hanging ropes with various worms and snakes on them.

Another pitch black room featured hanging hair covered in goo. In one room, there was a bridge that would randomly drop two inches. A fish room also appeared, with hanging stuffed fish and a bad smell. The crushing wall effect also may have appeared. There was also a vomit room with a man vomitting. The finale of the house was a series of four air guns that scareactors would shoot at guests.
