El Silbón (The Whistler) is a legendary figure in Venezuela, associated especially with Los Llanos region, usually described as a lost soul. He was a stiltwalking scareactor that appeared in Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America haunted house during Halloween Horror Nights 2023 (Hollywood). He would appear in the Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America (Orlando) haunted house alongside Tlahuelpuchi & Muerte & La Lechuza during Halloween Horror Nights 33.
Backstory[]
A common story known throughout Colombia and Venezuela was that there was a teenage boy living on a farm very far off that had fallen in love with a woman that his father did not approve as much as the boys father beckon to him to not see this girl, the boy would still continue only until one day the father catches his son and the girl in his barn and flies into a rage and murders the girl in front of his son.
The son in rage lashes and kills his father to avenge his lover's death. The grandfather of the boy comes home and sees what has happened and takes the boy out to the field and ties him to a post and whips him till the flesh falls off his back then proceeds to pour limes and tequila on the boys wounds and then when the worst was already done, the grandfather sends dogs to tear the boy apart.
As the boy stumbles into the woods, mutilated after his punishment, the grandfather hands him a sack of his fathers bones and says that he is condemned for all time to carry the bones of his murdered father on his back and the boy then proceeds into the woods never to be seen again.
Eventually he came out of the woods as a creature known as El Silbon, which some say is a towering creature, 10 maybe 12 feet tall, who's skinny and who continues to carry the bones of his father on his back and is known for his distinctive whistle. If people hear this whistle and it sounds far away it means he is close to the person but if he whistles and it sounds very close it means he's far away.
