El Cucuy was a character from El Cucuy: The Boogeyman during Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood 2013 . He is based off of the Mexican version of the Bogeyman, el Coco. The character is voiced by Danny Trejo. He would return in the Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America haunted house donning an updated look during Halloween Horror Nights 2024 (Hollywood).
Story[]
Do you remember when you were afraid of the dark? That terrible feeling there was some horrible monster hiding in your closet? Waiting for you under your bed? Your mama told you such a story, didn't she? "Sleep now, sleep child. Or else el Coco will come and eat you."
In Mexico, they have a name for this Boogeyman. They call him El Cucuy. None of them saw what El Cucuy looks like. No one who has ever met him and lived to tell about it. Some people say that he is a shadow, a ghost, an evil espírito that can change forms and become whatever you fear the most. Others say he is a horrible monster with razor sharp teeth. He lives in a cave high in the hills and comes down to the pueblos at night, searching for disobedient children.
Of course, El Cucuy is just a myth, right? A story parents tell bad children to get them to go to sleep at night. Now you're older. You no longer believe in such stories. You no longer believe in El Cucuy. Or maybe your parents knew something you did not. Maybe it isn't a story after all. Maybe they were just trying to warn you. Maybe that noise you just heard in the closet or that creaking sound under your bed is what you feared as a child, a monster waiting to eat you alive.

In 2022, El Cucuy would be brought back and given a new make-over to be featured in a scarezone along other Latin American Urban Legends in El Pueblo Del Terror during Halloween Horror Nights 2022 (Hollywood).
In 2024, El Cucuy would return with a new design and featured alongside El Cadejo & El Charro Negro in Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America haunted house, a sequel house from the previous years’ event.
