Dungeon of Terror (or The Dungeon of Terror) was one of the four haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights IV. It was located in the Earthquake Queue, and was a remake of the popular houses from Fright Nights and Halloween Horror Nights II.
History and Location[]
The Dungeon of Terror (which was a very popular haunted house featured during Fright Nights and Halloween Horror Nights II) was absent during the 1993 edition of Halloween Horror Nights Orlando due to the JAWS ride being reopened. However, the haunted house returned during Halloween Horror Nights IV. Because they couldn't use the JAWS Queue for haunted houses anymore, Universal decided to put this house in the large extended queue for the Earthquake attraction, an area that would later become one of the most used areas for haunted houses during Horror Nights.
The house was reportedly very different from the original 1991 and 1992 incarnations, but still received positive reviews from guests. In 1995, there would be another house with the name "Dungeon of Terror", this time being titled the Cryptkeeper's Dungeon of Terror in 1995. Despite sharing the same name, the Cryptkeeper's Dungeon of Terror was reportedly very different than this one, as it took place inside of the Cryptkeeper's mansion instead of the dungeons.
Description[]
There is no apparent escape! Are you to become the next victim of the night?
Experience[]
Queue[]
Guests entered the queue to this haunted house at the entrance to the Earthquake attraction. The extended queue switched back and forth in front of the entrance to the ride.
Haunted House[]
This haunted house seemed to be very similar to the previous Dungeon of Terror houses. However, The Rat Lady was still in the floor and a new character called "The Snake Master" (a man holding two boa constrictors) appeared in the house. The same link shown above also said that there was a dentist scene in which an evil dentist can be seen and heard drilling a hole into a dummies' teeth with lots of blood squirting out. The dentist would also reportedly take off the dummies' head as well. According to this, there was also a quiet and foggy Victorian garden scene. If this is true, then the crushing walls effect was used again in this house. There was also an electric chair scene.
According to this, a man in a cape was outside the haunted house to usher guests in. This also said that the finale was a room filled with strobe-lights and scareactors wearing costumes consisting of black and white geometric patterns blending into the walls.
