Dr. Oddfellow's Twisted Origins was one of the ten haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights 32, and was also that year’s icon house. It was located in Sprung Tent 2.

History and Location[]

On July 28th, 2023, Universal announced that they would hold a haunted house centered around their icon for that year's Halloween Horror Nights event: Dr. Oddfellow. The house would be set in his Carnival of Thrills, which travelled to a rural Midwest town in 1939 during the Dust Bowl. It would be focused on how Dr. Oddfellow gained his immortality, as well as show the death of Jack the Clown. This would mark the first time Dr. Oddfellow would appear at the event since The Fearhouse in 2000, and his design and backstory would be drastically altered in this house.

In 2006, Universal built two hurricane-proof tents behind the World Expo area of the park specifically for holding Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses. This house would be located in the northernmost one (called Sprung Tent 2).

The codename for this haunted house was either Tomato or Apple because a Tomato is considered a fruit and vegetable and which makes it odd and apples are known to be sold in carnivals.

Description[]

Your Soul is a Price He’s Willing to Pay[]

You won’t be able to resist going inside Dr. Oddfellow’s menacing menagerie of twisted oddities. But the price for you and your friends is steep: the cost of your souls to feed his immortal power.

In the 1930s Dust Bowl era, guests won’t be able to resist going inside Dr. Oddfellow’s menacing menagerie of twisted oddities where they’ll encounter grotesquely distorted animals and freakish fiends. In “Dr. Oddfellow: Twisted Origins,” the price to enter this creepy caravan is steep as souls feed his immortal power.

Backstory[]

In the 1930's, Oddfellow's Grand Circus & Exposition would travel across the country putting on various circus and freakshow acts. One day in 1933, Dr. Oddfellow would stop in a rural Midwest town during the Dust Bowl and set up his carnival. He would advertise his carnival with posters all over the town and entice unsuspecting patrons to enter his carnival. There, he would kidnap and torture them, forcing them to participate in various carnival "acts" and eventually sacrificing their souls using his Cane of Souls in order to harness the power of the Zodiac. He would then mutilate their corpses, contorting their bodies in ways that mimicked the 12 Zodiacs. Once sacrificing enough souls to the Zodiac, he put symbols all over the carnival in order to complete the ritual and gain immortality.

It was also during this time that Jack the Clown confessed to the murders of 13 children, which he hid in Jack in the Boxes in Dr. Oddfellow's House of Horrors. Fearing capture and wanting to cover his tracks, Dr. Oddfellow killed Jack the Clown and stuffed him in a box. Before he was murdered, Jack the Clown would scratch Dr. Oddfellow, permanently scarring him and causing some of his blood to drip onto Jack the Clown, giving the dying clown immortality as well.

Guests would sneak into the carnival through the bleachers of a circus tent after it closed to see the sights, only to discover the sinister true nature of Dr. Oddfellow's purpose. At the end of the house, guests would be killed by Dr. Oddfellow, and their souls would be sent into another plane of existence.

After the carnage and mayhem, Dr. Oddfellow would cover his tracks by burning all traces of his name, including posters and billboards advertising the carnival. He would then flee elsewhere to cause even more chaos with his newly gained powers and immortality.

Guests then enter another room where the shadows of Jack The Clown and Oddfellow are fighting and Oddfellow kills them and hides the body as a distraction as the Sea Goat scares guests on their left continuing forward guests are scared again by another carnie on their left as they exit the room.

Guests then enter the next room where ahead of them Dr. Oddfellow beckons them as the zodiac signs begin to glow in the room as Oddfellow swings his cane of souls and beckons them to be killed as a clown pops out on the right of them and again on their left as they exit the room.
