Cryptkeeper's Dungeon of Terror was one of the three haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights V. It was located in the Earthquake Queue.

History and Location[]

With the introduction of an icon to the event in 1995, Universal decided that he should receive his own haunted house. This house would share the name "Dungeon of Terror" with three previous haunted houses at the event, even though this house had almost absolutely nothing to do with the previous haunted houses (except for a few scenes and rooms).

This house was located in the large extended queue of the Earthquake ride, an area used for a haunted house during the previous year.

The Cryptkeeper would have his own haunted house again the following year titled The Crypt Keeper's Studio Tour of Terror. Also, the name "Dungeon of Terror" would not be used again until 2006, in the house titled Dungeon of Terror: Retold. This house would also be largely different to the previous Dungeon of Terrors, as it featured The Storyteller running a roadside attraction where her maniacal family would capture and torture tourists.

Settings[]

The settings were in the Cryptkeeper's Mansion. The house featured many different rooms of his mansion including The Root Cellar, The Trophy Room, and The Parlor.

Description[]

In a maze with no escape, guests are posed to become the next victims.

Scareactors[]

Experience[]

Facade[]

The guests would enter the house via The Parlor, rather than just entering the dungeon directly like in previous versions of the house.

House[]

The house is reported to have been very similar to the 1994 Dungeon of Terror, with little more added than statues and characters resembling the Cryptkeeper. However, other sources said that this house was very different from the previous Dungeon of Terrors. According to the concept book, the line seemed to split at one point.

The house was long and Gothic with varying lighting and few illusions. The Tales From the Crypt theme song played throughout the entire house. In the beginning of the house the Cryptkeeper was sitting above the guests as they passed under him, and The Trophy Room had many heads on the wall staring at them as they walked by. At one point, the guests would walk through a cemetery and a library. According to this, there were many snakes in this house, including a room completely covered in them (with many dangling from the ceiling). The article also hints at a scare coming out from under a bed. The Rat Lady dressed in Victorian clothing appeared in the penultimate room. This article seems to suggest that she was in the floor, the the validity of it is unknown. The final room featured The Cryptkeeper's room (where he would introduce the stories in the TV show). Another Cryptkeeper puppet appeared in a coffin in this room.
