Blood Moon: Dark Offerings (Haunted House) was one of the ten haunted houses that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights 32. It was located in Soundstage 23 along with Stranger Things 4.
History and Location[]
On July 28th, 2023, Universal announced that a haunted house based around a cult in a Colonial-era village would be featured during Halloween Horror Nights 32. The house would center around the cult sacrificing non-believers to the Blood Moon during the Fall Festival.
The house would be one of two located in Soundstage 23, the other being Stranger Things 4. Soundstage 23 is one of the larger soundstage facilities designed to be used as filming locations for movies and television shows.
Description[]
Bleed for the Blood Moon
In a Colonial-era village, moon-worshippers witness a blood moon at their fall festival. They take it as a sign to hunt down any non-followers, including you and your scream squad.
Colonial-era villagers begin to worship the moon obsessively. When the blood moon rises at their fall festival, they take it as a sign that they must hunt down any non-followers within their village. Guests will need to try not to become part of the sacrifice as they gather body parts to form a grisly offering in “Bloodmoon: Dark Offerings.”
Backstory[]
The house took place in the colonial-era village of Parish Town, where the yearly harvest has come short, causing people to starve or leave the colony. Within the populace is a group of moon worshippers led by Constance Shyler, who believes that the rising of the blood moon indicates a sacrifice of the town’s unbelievers in order to prosper. Guests would traverse the village on the night of the blood moon, trying to avoid being sacrificed themselves.

Experience[]
Guests walk into the soundstage and see the edge of Parish Town, where distant screaming and the toll of a far-off bell is heard. The blood moon is seen glowing from up high. Guests continue as they enter the sawmill and see static followers chanting in response to Constances' words. She could be seen standing above as the foundation of their offering is being constructed beneath her. Suddenly, guests are attacked by a hidden follower on their left. They continue forward only to be hit with another cult follower on the right acting as a static figure.
Guests exit the sawmill and find themselves outside the town residences where they are attacked by a follower behind hanging sheets on their right. They would then enter a home of one of the villager families where another follower attacks from behind a door on their left. Leaving the first home they are startled by a little girl crying that the cult had murdered her mother and father. In a small room next to her you can see the shadow of a child follower stabbing someone repeatedly. Continuing into another home, a villager’s corpse can be seen on a bed, impaled with a pitchfork. Behind the bed is a sheet revealing the silhouette of a cultist. Before exiting the residence guests are then attacked by a follower behind a curtain on their right.
Guests then reach the town square where a maypole of intestines is being used by hooded children. Guests make a right to walk alongside the scene, with the moon shining from behind them. On some occasions a child follower can be seen staring at guests from across the way. The tolling is more audible as between buildings in the distance the bell tower is seen. As guests continue walking beside the maypole, an attacking follower holding a severed leg sprays guests with water from the right on an elevated platform.
Guests enter the blacksmith’s forge where a body is being incinerated. From behind the furnace a cult follower lunges out. As they move forward guests proceed into a cobbler’s workshop where another follower attacks on the left. Moving forward the shoemaker can be seen dead on the right. Entering a small candle making room the chandler’s body is found in a crucified position with candles aligned on her arms and head as a follower attacks from the right.
Guests exit the businesses and return outside where the bell tower is seen again on the right. Entering the Settler's Towne Pub guests are immediately attacked by the barkeep on the right, where on the counter a body is seen skewered by antlers. Continuing to a section behind the bar they are quickly attacked by a child follower on their left through a window. Inside a hallway draped with animal hides, two wall panels drop on the left revealing more cultists, and upon exiting the building the barkeep attacks again on their right.
Proceeding into a dining hall, fresh bodies are presented as cornucopias on separate tables. Suddenly, another follower strikes from the left, where a large mirror disguises them.
Guests then enter a chapel filled with enrobed cultists seated in the pews. A diagram behind the altar reveals an outline of the main offering. Moving forward they're quickly attacked by two followers seated on the right, one of which is a child who is carving a symbol on her face.
As they exit the church the bell tower can be seen in full view, where the ringer gestures death signs between tolling. Guests then return to the sawmill, where the followers have congregated. Constance recites the chant once again from above, revealing a massive burning totem of body parts. Guests turn as they find hooded cultists aligned on both sides of them, where two attack from the right and one strikes from the left before exiting.

Trivia[]
- The codename for this haunted house was “Plum”, because of the red color of its insides being the color of the Blood Moon in the house.
- This house was one of the goriest houses of that year.
- This house, according to the Unmasking the Horror Tour, was on a budget and in fact had it's budget cut.[1].
- This is the first time where guests can look into future parts of the house that they'll be going through later, making guests feel like they were exploring an actual village. [2].
- The Decor Team tried not to use power tools to make things in this house due to colonial times not having any electrical equipment. [3].
- A lot of the tools used to create the props were later added as props themselves and are scattered throughout the house.
- The Blood Moon symbol featured on the logo for this house can also be found in the logo for Shipyard 32: Horrors Unhinged.
- On the cloaks of the statues in the opening and finale, as well as on the blackboard during the church scene, is the earliest iteration of Dr. Oddfellow's Symbol. [4].
- The fireplace effect is reused from Revenge of the Tooth Fairy.
- On the shoe shop sign in the Town Square scene, Kollath, is a reference to Dylan Kollath, who is one of the Decor Team members. [5].
- The anvil that was used in The Storyteller's room in the HHN Icons: Captured haunted house from Halloween Horror Nights 30 can be seen in the blacksmith room.
- The Decor Team made dolls in the shoemaker scene out of genuine corn husks and candlewax to stick to that colonial time feel. [6].
- The Decor Team spent 30 minutes learning how to make real candles to be used throughout the house, and then 12 hours making them to hang in the candle room. [7].
- This year, the Art and Design Team hid a number of frogs in each house as Easter Eggs for fans. This house’s frog could be found on a barrel to the left before entering the tavern, wearing a bonnet.
- The antlers in the tavern scene are from Yeti: Terror of the Yukon.
- In the church scene, on the faces of the static figures is the symbol of the Blood Moon carved onto their faces.
- The bullington board in the church scene matches what is in the finale scene as the Sacrifice Totem.
- Hershel's decapitated head from The Walking Dead: The End of the Line appears on a crate across from the bell tower.
- The bell used in the bell tower is actually an upside-down plant pot that resembles a bell.
- The house would reuse the Emma static figure from the Trick 'r Treat (Scarezone Orlando) during Halloween Horror Nights 27 and Trick 'r Treat (Haunted House Orlando) during Halloween Horror Nights 28.
- The beginning of the house shows Constance Shyler beckoning her followers in building a totem in honor of the Blood Moon and the end of the house shows the totem now completed. The house comes full circle.
