Anarch-Cade was one of the five scarezones that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights 29. It was located in Plaza of the Stars.

History and Location[]

On August 12th, 2019, Universal announced that a scarezone based on an 80's neon arcade, tying into the theme for the event, would be coming to their Halloween Horror Nights event that year.

It would be located in an area called Plaza of the Stars. The area is a street located in front of the entrance of the park. The scarezone would prove to be popular enough to win the Scarezone of the Year award in 2019.

Media Description[]

When you first enter the park in our Avenue of the Stars area, you're gonna enter Anarch-Cade, a twisted 80's arcade filled with these slashers inspired by 80's horror films. They've got weapons that glow and flash, they all served to distract you; while next one it comes in for the kill. And my personal favorite: our Glowing Chainsaws.- Said by Blake Braswell here.

Description[]

An 80s-inspired arcade has taken over Avenue of the Stars. At first glance, you may think it’s a party. However, you quickly learn that “Game Over” means a permanent end for you. A gang of neon slashers are out to play and this is one game you won’t want to lose.

YOU CAN'T PAUSE THE HORROR

A sinister 80s-inspired arcade has taken over the Avenue of the Stars and you only got one life. Blacklights highlight a gang of neon slashers, sprung from pixels to level up your fear. Laser lights project from above. It could be a party, except for the chainsaws.

Once you screams, it's game over.

Backstory[]

According to Blake Braswell, the idea of the scarezone was an imagination of a post-apocalyptic society where all they found were parts of a functioning 80s arcade and worshipped it and built a society around it.

Scarezone[]

Large neon arcade machines were built, each displaying an arcade game. In the middle of the scarezone, the words "Game Over" could be seen. Above guests, a "roof" made of lights and fog could also be seen.

Scareactors in this scarezone include chainsaw-wielding maniacs, other weapon-wielding killers, and stiltwalking women with nunchuks. All of these scareactors were dressed in neon clothing and wielded neon weapons.
