A Quiet Place was one of the haunted houses that was featured during Halloween Horror Nights 2024 (Hollywood). It was based off the A Quiet Place movies. It was located in the Year-Round Haunt Venue.

History and Location[]

Universal announced that a haunted house based on the film A Quiet Place & A Quiet Place Part II would be featured at their Halloween Horror Nights event that year. The house would take guests through many of the scenes from the films.

Description[]

Be Dead Quiet. If you make a sound, the monstrous creatures will get you.

Make a sound and you won’t last long. Monstrous creatures who can hear the slightest noise will hunt you down and silence you for good as the post-apocalyptic world comes to terrifying life.


Silence is Survival

Silence your screams if you want to survive the terrifying, post-apocalyptic world. Like the Abbott family, you must keep quiet as you travel from the farmhouse to the woods, to the foundry. As soon as you make a sound, monstrous creatures who can hear the slightest noise, will hunt you down and silence you for good.

Queue and Facade[]

Guests enter facade of Year Round Venue with the banner of A Quiet Place atop, as guests continue they're walking under mini trons explaining the story of Death Angels and the world of A Quiet Place all in sign language.

Guests enter the house and down a dark hallway as on their left the A Quiet Place logo can be seen on a black wall flickering.

Guests enter the next room and are in the woods and on their right Regan can be seen trying to signal them to shush as they continue to walk further, the sounds of nature can be heard around as well as a faint sound of the little spaceship.

Guests continue further into the next room continuing through the forest as on their right, the old man somber over his dead wife on the ground next to him begins to scream followed by the loud screeching and thud of a Death Angel can be heard as they exit into the next room.

Guests enter into the next room as on their right a Death Angel can seen lunging out of a hole as they exit into the next room.

Guests enter into the next room as they are outside of the Abbott Family’s farm and home, they continue forward and walk pass the staircase and into the next room to sounds of screeching Death Angels.

Guests enter the next room and are lunged at by a death angel on their right before exiting into the next room.

Guests enter into another hall and then enter the The Abbott’s basement where Evelyn Abbott can be seen shushing guests as they make a right pass by an agitated Death Angel before exiting into the next room.

Guests enter the next room and passing by the silo with a open tear where a Death Angel pops out at guests on their left as it screeches while the sound of Regan’s hearing aid statics, guests then pass by Regan behind a stable as on their on right Lee Abbott swings an axe before the exit forward into the next room.

Guests enter and pass two rooms of the Abbott Farm as they continue as they are lunged at by a death angel in an opening in the wall on their left as they exit into the next room.

Guests enter the Abbott Family’s cellar as they are passing by the baby floating in his carriage with respirator with the Death Angel hanging over it as they exit into the next room.

Guests then enter Spring Creek where they pass by a train with a large tear where a Death Angel lunges out as on their right Emmett can be blasting it with his shot gun shushing guests and telling them to move forward as they exit into the next room.

Guests enter the next room where Marcus Abbott can be seen struggling with his leg caught in a bear trap on their left and on their right Evelyn telling guests to be quiet and to run as they continue forward before exiting the room, a Death Angel pops out a brick wall on their left with the sound of Regan’s hearing aid static as she is on their right.

Guests enter the next room where they under the Steel Mill as Marcus tells them to stay silent as on their left a Death Angel pops out of a metal opening as they exit into the next room.

Guests enter a dark room where a Death Angel pops out in front of them as they make a left and then right out of the darken hallway out of the house.

  • According to Murdy on twitter, this was a house was high concept house.
  • According to Murdy on twitter, his research for this house involved a specific type of flower, rusted old wheelbarrows, a famous tree and an old man's obsession and joking that the house was about gardening.
  • In the haunted house scareactors will incorporate American Sign Language for the first time ever.
  • Mirroring the silence in the films, the haunted houses will embrace unique sound design, special effects and the adept performances of the scareactors to convey the ominous sense of dread depicted in the films.
  • According to Murdy on twitter he had said that he and his team tried to stay true to the film with this haunted house.
  • According to Murdy on twitter he had said that the puppets in the haunted house are big and they have worked out some ideas to use them in the house.
  • The treatment for this house was 109 pages.
  • In the trailer for the haunted house, two kids are in a laundromat working on homework when they're immediately both hit with static ringing loudly from their hearing aids similar to Regan's discovery that the static created by her father's makeshift hearing-aid could cause damage to the Death Angels and cause them to run away in pain.
  • The biggest piece to this house are the various Death Angels from the film. There are 10 different creatures, 6 are puppetted and 4 are fully animated.
  • In every room, there’s multichannel audio coming from big speakers above the sets. But they needed to do the opposite for A Quiet Place. In this house, the audio team utilizes “Near Field Audio Design”. This type of audio design uses specialized speakers designed for precise and accurate audio monitoring at close distances. And in this particular case, there needs to be many speakers and they need to get very close to guests. So speakers are hidden in set design within the house.
  • Throughout the house, there are various trigger effects that are “cause and effect” sensors. When a guest crosses one of those beams, it triggers something to happen in the rooms and causes the creatures to come! It’s a cool way to translate the idea of having to be quiet and the danger of being too loud.
  • In the queue for this attraction, there will be videos explaining the story and world of A Quiet Place. But these videos are done completely in ASL with closed captioning.
  • Some of the creatures have their plating opened up, reflecting the scenes in A Quiet Place: Part II where they were made more vulnerable thanks to high-frequency audio feedback
  • Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin that plays at the end of the house plays a significant role in A Quiet Place Part II because it is used as some sorta morse code or message by its frequency that helps two of the films main characters head towards it leading them to an island of other survivors and a radio station that survivors used to communicate to others.
  • The Death Angels were created by Magee FX.
  • According to Creative Director Art & Design Brandi Creason, the team had done a paper test for the haunted house to figure out the appropriate scale of the creatures in the haunted house. The team took some different imagery of the Death Angels in different positions that they were thinking in using for them in the house and made them full scale printed them on the plotter and taped them together in giant sheets stood them and modeled them with different people to see if they were appropriate leveled scales for certain scenes.
